Air Canada introduced its new livery on a Boeing 787-9 featuring the characters from Disney’s epic musical comedy “Wish,” which was introduced in theaters in November 2023.

American salutes the troops
In recognition of Veterans Day 2023, American Airlines flew more than 80 wounded and ill service members from Washington, D.C. to Las Vegas to enjoy an all-expenses paid vacation in partnership with the USO and MGM Resorts. The airline commissioned an aircraft to charter the group on the special flight.

LATAM supports Pan American Games
LATAM Airlines unveiled a special Boeing 787-8 livery in partnership with the Pan American Games, which are scheduled to take place between Oct. 20 and Nov. 5, 2023, while the Parapan American Games will be held from Nov. 17-26. The multi-sport event for athletes with disabilities will have 31 nations and 423 events in 17 different sports.

Flydubai unveils World Cup victory team
Flydubai unveiled a special livery on two of its Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft to celebrate the Argentina national football team’s victory in the final of the World Cup 2022. As the regional partner for the Argentine Football Association (AFA), flydubai carried the champions from Abu Dhabi to Doha after they concluded their training on 18 November, marking the start of their race to the cup.
The new livery features the iconic World Cup trophy and the Argentina national flag over the winning team including Julian Alvarez, Rodrigo De Paul, Angel Di Maria, Lautaro Martinez, Lionel Messi, Nicolas Otamendi and Paulo Dybala.

JAL Rolls Out Disney 100th Anniversary Livery
Japan Airlines (JAL) in December 2022, unveiled the “JAL Dream Express Disney100” special livery on a Boeing 767-300ER to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Walt Disney Company. According to JAL, the livery is a “symbol of the past, present, and future, and it is embodied with the wish to enrich the stories of all people forever.”

JetBlue sends a sky-high salute to Veterans
New York-based JetBlue Airways debuted its redesigned Vets in Blue plane on Nov. 11, 2022, which is dedicated to those who serve in the armed forces.

Frontier’s new A321neo sports green livery
Frontier Airlines unveiled its first ultra-fuel-efficient Airbus A321neo aircraft in a special green livery. The 240-seat A321neo, powered by Pratt & Whitney’s GTF engines, will generate significantly lower carbon emissions as it delivers 120 miles per gallon per seat.

ITA Airways rolls out sustainable livery on new A220
Italy’s ITA Airways painted a “Born to be Sustainable” livery on its new fuel-efficient A220-300. Six more of the type are expected to be in service by year-end. All A220s are on lease from Air Lease Corp.

ANA introduces Green Jet service with new livery
All Nippon Airways (ANA) began in-service on its ANA Green Jet, the special Boeing 787 developed to raise awareness and promote sustainable practices and reduce CO2 emissions. The new domestic-service aircraft entered service beginning with the Tokyo Haneda-San Francisco flight on October 5, 2022. The ANA Green Jet features a special livery featuring the ANA Future Promise initiative, which began in 2021 and encompasses ANA Group’s activities in environmental, social responsibility and governance areas. A total of two aircraft with the special livery will enter service—the aircraft to fly on domestic routes will begin operating in November. The design is based on the color green to evoke a sustainable image. The “ANA Future Promise” logo and green leaf motif on the left side of the fuselage, and the "SAF Flight Initiative" logo and water motif on the right side of the fuselage, are expressing our desire to protect the beautiful earth and realize a sustainable society.

China Airlines unveils A321neo ‘Pikachu Jet CI’
China Airlines formally unveiled its “Pikachu Jet CI,” the first Pokémon-liveried aircraft in Taiwan on Sept. 30, 2022. A one-day charity micro-trip was organized on September 30, 2022, by China Airlines for the Taoyuan-Taipei (Songshan) route. The aircraft then made its first flight on the Taipei (Songshan)-Tokyo (Haneda) route carrying with its Pokémon fans young and old. Exclusive Pokémon-themed supplies will also be featured aboard the aircraft. In the spirit of the “Pokémon Air Adventures,” China Airlines invited healthcare workers who were on the front-lines of epidemic prevention and members of the travel industry to witness the birth of “Pikachu Jet CI.”

In honor of Pink October 2022, a month dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer and early prevention, Luxair Luxembourg Airlines has unveiled its newest pink plane livery, in support of every person with breast cancer.

Viva Aerobus salutes the Raiders with special livery
A Viva Aerobus Airbus aircraft dedicated to Raider Nation landed for the first time at Harry Reid International Airport on Sept. 15, 2022, arriving from Mexico City. Viva has been appointed as the official airline of the Las Vegas Raiders in Mexico and, with this aircraft, reaffirmed its commitment to the team. The aircraft is an Airbus A320 belonging to the newest fleet in Mexico and the third in all of North America, with the aircraft registration XA-VAK, which bears the Raiders’ iconic imagery.

ITA Airways A350 blue livery flies over Italian Grand Prix
ITA Airways' new Airbus A350 blue livery dedicated to the legendary Enzo Ferrari made its first flight to Monza at the Italian Grand Prix on Sept. 11, when it led the way for the Frecce Tricolore on the occasion of the departure and in conjunction with the national anthem. It is the first time that “il Drake,” legendary founder of the team, the most titled in the history of Formula 1 with 31 world titles, has an aircraft with his name. And it is the first time the Italian flag carrier was present at the Italian Grand Prix. The A350 joins the other three aircraft that have been dedicated to illustrious pilots who have written the history of Italian motoring, namely the A330 named after Tazio Nuvolari, and two Airbus A319s that bear the names of Alberto Ascari and Michele Alboreto. All four aircraft with new blue livery of the ITA Airways fleet wear the Logo of the Celebrations of the Racetrack.

JetSMART continues endangered wildlife liveries on new A321neo
South American ULCC JetSMART unveiled a humpback whale on the tail of its recently delivered Airbus A3210neo—the latest in a series of endangered wildlife liveries promoting an alliance to protect endangered wildlife. The A321neo is the first of 60 of the type the airline expects to receive.

ITA presents ‘Born to be Sustainable’ livery
Italy’s ITA Airways rolled out its “Born To Be Sustainable” livery on its Airbus A350-900 on June 8, 2022. According to ITA, the special livery is a testimonial of the flagship carrier’s commitment to sustainability; this next-generation aircraft is part of the progressive fleet renewal. The large “Born To Be Sustainable” lettering on the fuselage, illustrates this foundational commitment, which ITA Airways pursues in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, combining environmental and social sustainability with business growth and financial strength.

EgyptAir celebrates 90th anniversary
EgyptAir rolled out a special 90th anniversary livery on its Boeing 787 in May. The state-owned flag carrier of Egypt was established on May 7, 1932, to be the first operating airline in the Middle East and Africa and the seventh airline in the world. The company started its operation in the name of “Misr Airwork” in 1932 until 1941, and then it was renamed as “MisrAir” until 1960 when it was rebranded as “the United Arab Airlines” following the establishment of the United Arab Republic between Egypt and Syria. Since then, it is named as “EgyptAir.”

Air Serbia’s second A330 to feature Tesla
Air Serbia’s second widebody Airbus A330 aircraft, which will be delivered in October, will also feature a special livery featuring Serbian-American inventor Nikola Tesla. The tailfin of the latest A330 has been painted with a highly stylized image of Tesla. The image of Tesla’s face on the tail brings with it Air Serbia’s traditional colors of blue and red, in a sort of semi-cubist homage to the grandfather of electricity.

Frontier Airlines to feature sloth on livery
Ultra-low fare carrier Frontier Airlines in June unveiled details of a special new aircraft that will join the fleet next year featuring the Costa Rican two-toed sloth on its tail. All Frontier plane tails feature a unique animal with a special name and back story. The Hoffmann’s two-toed sloth was chosen to honor Frontier destination partner Costa Rica and highlight this unique species, which is native to Costa Rica.
