Luxair Begins Fleet Renewal With Arrival Of First Embraer E195-E2 In Luxembourg
Luxair has begun its fleet renewal program with the arrival of the first of its Embraer E195 E2s in Luxembourg.
Luxembourg’s flag-carrier said that the aircraft – the first of six E195 E2s on firm order –represents a key investment in the company’s future and in the Grand Duchy’s connectivity. The arrival of the small narrowbody jets would ensure the company remained competitive, sustainable, and committed to the quality and reliability its passengers expected, the company said.
“The arrival of this first Embraer E195-E2 is a decisive step into Luxair’s future …strengthening our competitiveness, reducing our environmental impact and enhancing the travel experience for our passengers,” CEO Gilles Feith said.
The aircraft was greeted at Findel Airport with the traditional water salute, followed by a welcome event at Luxair’s maintenance hangar, with guests headed by Luxembourg’s Minister for Mobility and Public Works, Yuriko Backes.
The first aircraft is scheduled to start services in January 2026. It will operate with a single-class, 136-seat interior.
Luxair initially placed firm orders for four E195s, before exercising options for two more in December 2024 – the latter pair will arrive in 2027. As well as the firm orders for six, Luxair has three more on option, with the airline having the flexibility to move between the E195 and smaller E190. The Embraers will eventually replace Luxair’s De Havilland Canada Dash 8-400s.
He remainder of the airline’s fleet is composed of various marques of Boeing 737s; several MAX-7s, -8s and -10s are on order to modernize the inventory.
