Greek ACMI and charter specialist Marathon Airlines has expanded its fleet with a fourth Embraer.
The new aircraft, a leased 15-year-old E195 E1, was formerly operated by fellow-Greek carrier Lumiwings. In Marathon service, the aircraft is expected to commence operations shortly under the Athens-based carrier’s long-term ACMI agreement with Italian operator Aeroitalia. This will be the second Marathon aircraft to fly for the Italian company.
“Welcoming SX-LUX to our fleet is another important step in Marathon Airlines’ growth journey,” CEO Andreas Kaiafas said. “Each new aircraft strengthens our ability to support our partners with flexible and reliable solutions, while also moving us closer to our vision of expanding into new markets and territories with confidence and ambition.”
The latest addition to the fleet is configured in a two-class, 118-seat layout (14 business, 104 economy).
Marathon foresees further expansion this year. It is aiming to acquire two further E1 models later this year, while 2027 will see it targeting a move into the E2 family.
