Mongolian airline Hunnu Air plans to expand its small fleet of regional aircraft as it seeks to grow its route network.

The regional carrier, based in the Mongolian capital of Ulaanbaatar, currently operates a pair of Embraer E190s, together with a single ATR 42-500 turboprop.

Hunnu Air now intends to lease two E195-E2s. Although the lessor has not been disclosed, Aviation Week understands that it is regional leasing specialist Azorra and that the aircraft will be delivered directly from Embraer in April and October this year.

With the arrival of the new aircraft, Hunnu Air plans to increase capacity to key tourist destinations including Haikou and Sanya in China’s Hainan Province—a sub-tropical island off the country’s southern coast that is a popular domestic holiday destination—as well as Phu Quoc in Vietnam.

Hunnu Air’s current route map heavily features cities in neighboring China, notably in that country’s Inner Mongolia region, with destinations including Baotou, Manzhouli and Ordos, as well as domestic destinations such as Murun.

The airline also wants to expand its services to cities elsewhere in China, as well as to Japan and South Korea, which it currently serves with both scheduled and charter flights. Additionally, Hunnu Air is planning to introduce scheduled flights to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, later in 2025.
