Austrian Airlines announced in July that it plans to phase out its 17 Embraer E195LRs by 2028, starting by the end of this year with 13 going to Air Dolomiti.

The first of the batch going to the Italian regional carrier will arrive in December and is scheduled to be operational with its fleet from March 2026.

At present, Air Dolomiti operates a fleet of nine E190s and 17 E195s. The smaller E190s will gradually be phased out and replaced by the incoming ex-Austrian E195s. Once the process has been completed by the end of 2028, Air Dolomiti’s fleet will consist of 30 E195s.

A spokesperson for the Verona-based carrier said that its new, enlarged fleet means the airline “will most likely expand our current network. However, it is too early to say now what it will be like over the next three years.”

Air Dolomiti is part of the Lufthansa Group; one of its roles is to feed passengers into Lufthansa’s Munich hub.

Asked whether the airline would continue to operate in this role, or whether expansion would see its priorities change, the spokesperson said, “The winter season will bring some developments with the wet-lease operations on behalf of Austrian Airlines, while confirming our European routes from Munich and Frankfurt.”
