Charter and ACMI specialist German Airways is expanding its fleet as it steps up its operations.
The Köln/Bonn-headquartered carrier has taken on its ninth Embraer 190. The latest machine has been provided by UK-based Executive Jet Support (EJS) on a three-year lease, in time for the summer 2026 season.
This lease assists German Airways in aligning its fleet capabilities with upcoming operational requirements across Europe, EJS says.
It also reflects the UK company’s broader strategy of providing flexible asset solutions to operators.
The newest E190 is required because German Airways is committing two aircraft for feeder services on behalf of German leisure airline Condor.
German Airways is Germany’s second-oldest airline, after flag carrier Lufthansa, having been founded (as WDL Aviation) in 1955.
The airline’s most important business is the wet-lease sector, with most of the fleet operated on behalf of KLM Cityhopper, the regional arm of the Netherlands' flag carrier. German Airways operates its E190s in a two-class layout, with 88 economy and 12 premium.
