Avion Engineering Services Becomes Aerovista Engineering
Dubai-based aviation asset manager and lessor Aerovista has rebranded its affiliated engineering firm, Avion Engineering Services, to Aerovista Engineering. It will continue to offer engineering, CAMO and maintenance support from Bulgaria.
HAECO Appoints New CCO
HAECO has appointed MRO veteran Gerald Steinhoff as a chief commercial officer, effective Jan. 1, 2023. Steinhoff, who has been working as a managing director of HÜBNER since 2020, has also previously worked for Lufthansa Technik AG and MTU Aero Engines.
U.S.-Based Parts Specialist Closes $3 Million Financing Round
AeroParts Now has announced that it has closed a $3 million financing round led by String Ventures and Simon Group Holdings. The company aims to use the financing to expand its sales, e-commerce and marketplace enablement software as a service products.
Mammoth Signs PTF Conversion, Maintenance Contract
Mammoth Freighters has signed a multi-year passenger-to-freighter conversion and maintenance agreement with Aspire MRO related to its Boeing 777 program. Fort-Worth, Texas-based Aspire will provide the services for Mammoth’s 777-200LRMF and 777-300ERMF aircraft.
CSAT Confirms Leadership Change
Czech Airlines Technics (CSAT) has announced Petr Dobersky as its new chairman of the board following the departure of Pavel Haleš. Dobersky, who took up the role on Sept. 1, previously worked for CSAT's parent group Prague Airport as an executive director overseeing its accounting, taxes and financial relations.
C&L Aerospace Boosts ATR PMA Parts Offering
MRO provider C&L Aerospace has partnered with an unnamed manufacturer to become the sole distributor on a parts manufacturer approval (PMA) alternative component for the rear tail cone lens assembly found on ATR regional aircraft. The latest approval is the company's second for PMA related to ATR aircraft.
Epic Graduates First Aircraft Mechanic Class
Epic Flight Academy has graduated its first class of aircraft mechanic students, following its launch of a Part 147 school in late 2020. It says all seven graduates received job offers immediately upon graduation. The Department of State has also authorized Epic to issue M1 visas for international students wishing to train as aircraft mechanics.
GA Telesis Signs MOU With CSAL
GA Telesis has signed a memorandum of understanding with China Southern Airlines Leasing. Under the collaboration, CSAL will have access to GA Telesis' services, including component and asset life-cycle management, tooling services, ground support equipment and MRO. The companies will also collaborate to create a partnership focused on engine teardown and trading with GAMECO, MTU Maintenance Zhuhai and China Southern's subsidiaries.
Storm Aviation, Norse Atlantic Airways Maintenance Contract
Norse Atlantic Airways has selected Storm Aviation to provide support and maintenance for the Trent 1000 engines powering its Boeing 787 aircraft. The contract also covers ETOPS and transit checks for four aircraft operating daily from London Gatwick Airport to New York and Oslo.
TCS, SIAEC Launch SmartMX Software
Tata Consultancy Services and SIA Engineering Company have launched TCS AvianaTM - SmartMX, a digital solution focused on providing a connected view of end-to-end aircraft maintenance operations. The companies say the software enables faster response times, proactive planning, improved productivity and consistent dispatch reliability.
GCAM Gains New Maintenance Certificate
HNA Aviation Technic subsidiary Grand China Aviation Maintenance has obtained a maintenance approval certificate from the Department of Civil Aviation Aruba. It also holds maintenance approvals from regulators in the U.S., Europe, South Korea, Cambodia, Cayman Islands, Guernsey and Bermuda.
AvAir Appoints New VP Technology
AvAir has promoted Ai Sullivan to vice president of technology. Sullivan will support all enterprise resource planning (ERP) related improvements and post-implementation projects and oversee AvAir’s IT department.
Smartwings Signs Component Support Agreement
Czech airline Smartwings has signed a five-year comprehensive Total Component Support contract with Lufthansa Technik covering repair and overhaul of components for the airline’s fleet of 30 Boeing 737NG aircraft. The agreement includes component MRO services, pool access and component delivery to selected international airports within Europe.
Magnetic Migrates To OASES
Magnetic Engineering has completed its migration to Commsoft’s OASES engineering and maintenance software system. It decided to implement OASES to improve the efficiency of its CAMO and technical services, and the system is currently used to support all CAMO services for its Australian customers, as well as several global technical services projects.
AMP Aero Wins Air Arabia Engine Agreement
Air Arabia has awarded AMP Aero a three-year CFM56-5B and -7B engine material consignment agreement. According to AMP Aero, a key factor in the agreement was its demonstrated performance with other Airbus A320 operators in the Middle East region.
Southwest Reaches Tentative AMFA Agreement
Southwest Airlines has reached a tentative agreement with the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association, which represents its aircraft appearance technicians, who clean aircraft and parts as well as maintenance equipment and facilities. The agreement includes increases to technician pay and AMFA says it will soon start the process of a ratification vote.
Avensis Aviation Gets Cargo Mod STC
Avensis Aviation has received a permanent supplemental type certification from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency for its Medius Airbus A330 cargo modification program. TAP Maintenance & Engineering performed the first conversion and modification, which was delivered to launch customer TAP Air Cargo.
Austrian Technik Hires New Mechatronics Apprentices
Austrian Technik has welcomed 13 new mechatronics apprentices, two of which will be trained in cooperation with Austrian nonprofit Jugend am Werk. Austrian Airlines currently employs 32 mechatronics apprentices, which receive theoretical and practical training in specialist workshops and aircraft maintenance.
Vallair Acquires A321 Aircraft For Disassembly
Vallair has acquired an Airbus A321 aircraft for imminent part-out. The aircraft was previously operated by AtlasGlobal. The airframe will be fully disassembled at Vallair’s facility in Montpellier, France. The company says that parts taken off the aircraft will be available for sale in the last quarter of 2022.
Constant Aviation Bolsters AOG Capabilities, Workforce
Constant Aviation has added a Philadelphia-based AOG mobile response group for servicing aircraft in southeastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey. It added a Salt Lake City-based station earlier this year and now operates 28 AOG teams nationally. It also added new signing bonuses to its maintenance technician apprenticeship program, increased technician pay by 10% and added increased benefits to boost recruitment and retention.
GATES Inducts New Trainee Class Into Engine Mechanic Program
GA Telesis Engine Services (GATES) has inducted the seventh cohort into its aircraft engine trainee program. The paid six-month program enables trainees to acquire knowledge and skills on the aircraft engines maintained and overhauled by the company. After the successful completion of the program, trainees will be offered a permanent position as an engine mechanic at GATES.
A-Technics Receives A320neo Approval
A-Technics has received a maintenance approval from Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency for A320neo aircraft. The company will conduct base maintenance services at Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport and line maintenance services at both Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport and Sochi.
Egyptair Maintenance & Engineering Gains EASA Renewal, Adds 737 MAX Line Maintenance
Egyptair Maintenance & Engineering has announced that the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has renewed its Part 145 approval following an audit of its Cairo facility. The airline affilited MRO has also gained line maintenance approval from EASA for Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
Rolls Royce Completes Sale Of ITP Aero
Rolls-Royce has completed the sale of ITP Aero to a consortium of investors led by Bain Capital Privet Equity for approximately $1.8 billion. The company says that ITP Aero will remain one of its strategic suppliers across civil aerospace and defense programs.
Revima Signs Luxair MRO Contract
Revima Asia Pacific has signed a two-year agreement with Luxair to service the airline's Boeing 737NG landing gears. The first overhaul is scheduled this month at Revima’s recently opened facility south of Bangkok in Thailand.
AFI KLM E&M, China Airlines Extend GE90 Support Deal
AFI KLM E&M has signed an extension to its engine maintenance contract with China Airlines relating to GE90 support. The agreement covers four additional GE90-powered Boeing 777 freighters operated by the airline. Both parties signed the initial agreement in June 2021.
PAL, Safran Sign Landing Gear MRO Contract
Safran Landing Systems has signed a multi-year contract with Philippine Airlines to provide landing gear MRO services for its Airbus A330 and A320 family fleet. The contract will start this year and run through 2024 for PAL's eight A330 aircraft, and through 2025 for its 20 A320 and A321 aircraft. Safran will carry out maintenance operations at its facility in Singapore.
Cathay Pacific, Safran Sign Two Nacelles Service Agreements
Safran announced that Cathay Pacific has renewed its service agreement with Safran Nacelles for the support of the thrust reversers of the carrier’s 51 Airbus A330ceo aircraft. Cathay Pacific and its subsidiary HK Express also signed an agreement with Safran Nacelles to support the nacelles of their 32 Airbus A321neo aircraft. Both contracts are signed for a period of five years.
AFI KLM E&M, Air Premia Extend Boeing 787-9 Fleet Component Support
AFI KLM E&M has extended its component support services agreement with South Korean low-cost carrier Air Premia by adding two more Boeing 787-9 aircraft. AFI KLM E&M will provide repairs, logistic support, provisioning of spare parts and access to the Prognos predictive maintenance tool to Air Premia's new aircraft.
Wizz Air Gains EASA Approval For ETL
Lufthansa Technik announced that the European Union Aviation Safety Agency has approved Wizz Air's use of the electronic tech log (ETL) solution offered by Lufthansa Technik’s Aviatar platform. LHT says that calls in Wizz Air's maintenance control center dropped by more than 25% following its implementation of the ETL solution.
GATES, Lion Air Group Engine Maintenance Contract
GA Telesis Engine Services and Lion Air Group have signed a long-term engine maintenance contract, covering the carrier’s Boeing 737NG fleet. The agreement includes MRO of CFM56-7B engines across the group, including Batik Air and Thai Lion Air. It also includes leased engine support, LLP management and logistics.
Cebu Pacific, Safran Renew Landing Gear MRO Contract
Cebu Pacific Air and Safran Landing Systems have renewed their landing gear maintenance contract for 14 aircraft of the carrier’s Airbus A320 fleet. Safran will carry out maintenance operations at its facility in Singapore.
Toki Air, ATR Sign Global Maintenance Agreement
New Japanese airline Toki Air and ATR have signed a global maintenance contract for its two leased ATR72-600 aircraft, which are set to begin operations in 2023. The 10-year contract includes on-site stock, line replaceable unit pool exchange and repair service, and propeller blade and landing gears.
Spring Airlines, Safran Nacelles Service Agreement
Safran Nacelles has signed an agreement to support the nacelles of Spring Airlines' Airbus A320neo aircraft, which are equipped with CFM International LEAP-1A engines. Safran Nacelles will provide support at its facility in Suzhou, China.
Atitech, Air Malta Sign C Check Agreement Atitech has signed an agreement with Air Malta to provide C checks for the airline's three Airbus A320neo aircraft for the incoming winter season.
AJW Group Opens New Istanbul Support Hub
AJW Group has opened a new regional support hub and office in Istanbul. It says AJW Turkey will support regional customers through a variety of services, including MRO, nose-to-tail support solutions, contractual support negotiations and an inventory of Airbus and Boeing spare parts.
ST Engineering, Garuda Indonesia Engine Maintenance Contract
ST Engineering and Garuda Indonesia have signed multi-year CFM56-7B engine support contract for the carrier’s Boeing 737NG aircraft. ST Engineering will carry out maintenance operations at its facility in Zurich.
GKN Aerospace Inaugurates New MRO Facility
GKN Aerospace has inaugurated its new maintenance facility for aero-engine parts repair in Johor, Malaysia. The new facility will support servicing of engine low-pressure compressor components for CFM56-5Bs, CFM56-7s and V2500s.
