AeroShark Certification Approaches For First Airbus Aircraft

Lufthansa Technik announced it is finalizing certification for its AeroShark drag-reducing surface film on an Airbus aircraft for the first time. The first Airbus aircraft to be equipped with AeroShark will be an A330 operated by German leisure carrier Discover Airlines.

BCT Aviation Maintenance Extends Narrowbody C Check Capability

The UK Civil Aviation Authority has given BCT Aviation Maintenance approval to extend its Part 145 base maintenance C check capability to 84 months for Airbus A320-family and Boeing 737 Classic and NG aircraft. BCT says its new ability to perform extended interval C checks on narrowbody platforms aims to provide operators and lessors with greater flexibility in managing high-cycle aircraft.

Animawings Picks SAMCO For A220 Base Maintenance

Romanian leisure carrier Animawings has chosen Dutch MRO provider SAMCO Aircraft Maintenance to provide base maintenance for its Airbus A220 fleet.

Ontic Acquires SIRS Navigation

Ontic has acquired SIRS Navigation, a UK-based manufacturer of aviation compasses. Ontic says tens of thousands of the company’s products are in service worldwide “on virtually every major commercial and business aviation platform.”

Nayak Aircraft Services Acquires LAS Maintenance

Nayak Aircraft Services announced that it has acquired a controlling stake in LAS Maintenance, a line maintenance provider based in Portugal. LAS Maintenance will keep its existing management and operational structure under the arrangement, and Nayak says the move strengthens its presence in Southern Europe.

Veryon Acquires Polaris Aero

Aviation maintenance software provider Veryon has acquired Polaris Aero, an aviation safety management software company with products that MROs, charter operators and corporate flight departments use for compliance, risk assessment and operational safety enhancement. According to Veryon, the acquisition adds more than 200 new customers to its portfolio and significantly boosts its aviation safety and maintenance data, which it says will sharpen the accuracy of its artificial intelligence-powered data intelligence platform, Veryon AIRE.

StandardAero Opens Winnipeg Facility Expansion

StandardAero has opened its expanded facility in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The 70,000 ft.² expansion will provide full MRO support for GE Aerospace CF34-3/-8 and CFM International CFM56 engines.

JCB Aero Obtains Boeing Part 145 Maintenance Approval

JCB Aero has been granted Part 145 maintenance approval for Boeing aircraft. The approval includes line and base maintenance on Boeing 737-600, -700, -800 and -900 aircraft. JCB Aero launched MRO operations in October 2024 and also holds Airbus maintenance capabilities.

AerFin Announces Second Turning Rock Financing Transaction

AerFin has announced a second asset-backed financing transaction with private investment firm Turning Rock Partners, backed by three Airbus A220 aircraft. Under the terms of the transaction, the A220s will remain operational for an interim period before the airframes are disassembled and the engines transition to long-term lease arrangements. AerFin announced previous asset-backed financing with Turning Rock Partners in June 2025, with ORIX Aviation (which announced its acquisition of AerFin Aug. 3) serving as transaction advisor.

LHT Philippines Lands Extended Emirates Base Maintenance Contract

Emirates has extended its Airbus A380 base maintenance agreement with Lufthansa Technik (LHT) through 2030. LHT Philippines will have two dedicated base maintenance lines for the carrier, and Emirates will be the launch customer at its new facility at Clark International Airport. LHT Philippines says the agreement is one of its largest by value in the company’s history.

Swiss Opens Zurich Composite Shop

Swiss International Airlines has broken ground on a new composite shop at Zurich Airport to support the repair and maintenance of modern composite components. The airline says the shop will enable it to handle more repairs in-house and increase its independence, flexibility and planning.

VSE Acquires Atech Turbine Components

VSE Corp. has acquired Atech Turbine Components, an Auburn, Massachusetts-based MRO provider specializing in complex hot-section components for aircraft turbine engines. VSE says the acquisition adds more than 300 specialized and proprietary repair approvals to its portfolio on engine platforms such as the Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6 and PW100.

Batam Aero Technic Gets South Korean Approval

Indonesia-based MRO provider Batam Aero Technic has obtained maintenance facility approval from South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transportation. It already has approvals from regulators in Indonesia, the U.S., Malaysia, Thailand, India, Guernsey, Vietnam, the Philippines and San Marino.

Air Corsica Taps AFI KLM E&M For Leap-1A Engine Support

Air Corsica has signed a multiyear engine MRO agreement with AFI KLM E&M covering nine CFM International Leap-1A engines supporting its Airbus A320neo operations. AFI KLM E&M says its maintenance partnership with the airline has spanned several decades, including services for CFM56-5B engines and Airbus A320ceo and A320neo components.

WLFC Plans Johor Engine Repair Center

Willis Lease Finance Corporation (WLFC) has purchased land to build a new Willis Engine Repair Center in Johor, Malaysia. WLFC expects construction to be completed in the first quarter of 2027. The company already operates Willis Engine Repair Centers in Coconut Creek, Florida, and Bridgend, Wales.

Turkish Technic Announces Seventh Istanbul Hangar

Turkish Technic has announced plans for a seventh hangar at Istanbul Ataturk Airport that will be capable of accommodating two narrowbodies and one widebody aircraft simultaneously. The company says the new hangar will increase its maintenance capacity in Istanbul to 57 aircraft at the same time.
