The joint venture between Eaton and SIA Engineering Co., Eaton Aero Services, is on track to launch the second half of the year in Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia. The JV for component repair formed two years ago.

Avio Network Acquires JAT Tehnika

Belgrade-based MRO services provider Avio Network announced that it has completed its acquisition of Serbian MRO provider JAT Tehnika. The company says it plans to make targeted investments in modernizing facilities, improving digital capabilities and optimizing operational efficiency.

H.I.G. Capital Completes IAC Acquisition

Investment firm H.I.G. Capital has completed its acquisition of International Aerospace Coatings (IAC). Martin O’Connell, CEO of IAC, says H.I.G. will help it scale to meet growing demand, including expanding geographic footprint, investing in additional hangar capacity and selectively pursuing add-on acquisitions.

Steiner Aviation Adds New Dedicated Embraer Hangar

MRO and avionics services provider Steiner Aviation International has expanded its facility at Akron-Canton Regional Airport by adding a 12,000 ft.² hangar that will initially be dedicated to servicing Embraer 135 and 145 aircraft. The company says it has also recently invested in specialized tooling and an Embraer technical team to support capabilities for the aircraft types.

SIA Engineering Company announced it has been awarded production organization approval from India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) under CAR 21. It says it is the first entity outside India to be awarded this approval.

Private Equity Exits Investment InTech Aerospace Investment

Argosy Private Equity has exited its investment in InTech Aerospace, a Houston-based FAA Part 145 repair station that provides interior refurbishment services across upholstery, soft goods, composites, plastics and seating. Kirk Griswold, founding partner of the private equity firm, says it “worked to strengthen operations and expand customer relationships,” and that it sees InTech Aerospace as “well-positioned for continued success.”

Maverick Aviation Group Acquires Genaire

Canadian aerospace holding company Maverick Aviation Group has acquired Genaire, an Ontario-based specialist in aircraft fuel systems, ground support equipment and OEM manufacturing, including products for De Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter and Lockheed C-130 aircraft. Maverick says the acquisition strengthens its national footprint and serves as its platform for expansion into Eastern Canada.

AMTRA Aero Component Solutions Acquires A320 For Teardown

AMTRA Aero Component Solutions has signed a letter of intent to acquire an Airbus A320-200 for teardown. The Tulsa, Oklahoma-based aircraft component supplier will make inventory from the harvested materials available to customers through its global sales channels.

Seattle Aviation Solutions has acquired a Boeing 777-200 with Rolls-Royce Trent 892-17 engines. The aircraft—the company’s fifth in the last six months—will be disassembled, and its components will be made available for sale once they have cleared inspection and documentation review.

Voyageur Aviation Corp. has opened a new landing gear repair and overhaul facility in Ottawa, Ontario, specializing in ATR aircraft. It says the new facility expands its support for ATR operators by providing more capacity and a full suite of landing gear services.

Liebherr-Aerospace Adds New Coating Capability In Shanghai

Liebherr-Aerospace has added advanced protection coating capabilities for heat transfer equipment components in Shanghai, China. The company has industrialized a trivalent chromium system and post application conversion sealer coating process for heat transfer equipment that complies with European Union Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals regulations. It says it is the first company to offer this service for heat transfer equipment to airline customers in China.

Sunvair Acquires Aircraft Systems

Sunvair has acquired Aircraft Systems, a Miami-based MRO provider specializing in airframe and landing gear components and hydraulic, electrohydraulic, mechanical, electromechanical, electronic and pneumatic accessories. Sunvair Aerospace Group President and CEO Kerry Jarandson says the additional capabilities from Aircraft Systems expand the depth of Sunvair’s offerings.

AirAsia X has signed an EngineWise comprehensive service agreement with Pratt & Whitney covering Geared Turbofan (GTF) engines powering its new order for 150 Airbus A220s. Pratt will provide maintenance services under the deal for 12 years.

AAR Plans To Wind Down Legacy Commercial Programs Biz

AAR has announced it will restructure its operating segments to: Parts Supply; Repair, Engineering and Software; Government Solutions; and Legacy Commercial Programs. AAR says it intends to wind down the legacy segment, which includes “asset-heavy flight hour-based component repair programs for commercial airlines.” Chairman, President and CEO John Holmes said the segment “requires significant asset pools and no longer meets our capital return thresholds,” so he anticipates winding the segment down in 3-4 years.

StandardAero Acquires Unified Turbines

StandardAero has acquired Unified Turbines, a Milton, Vermont-based provider of hot section component repair and overhaul services for Pratt & Whitney and Honeywell engines powering a variety of turboprops. StandardAero says the acquisition strengthens its PT6A and PW100 engine capabilities, and it plans to align the new subsidiary with its Component Repair Services segment.

Cabinair Group, Summit Lenso Partner On Asia-Pacific Aircraft Mods

Cabinair Group and Summit Lenso have begun a strategic partnership on aircraft modification and cabin solutions capabilities in the Asia-Pacific region. Initial operations will be focused on Thailand, combining Cabinair’s European Union Aviation Safety Agency Part 145 and Part 21 capabilities with Summit Lenso’s aerospace manufacturing facility near Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Duncan Aviation Donates Engine To High School AMT Program

Duncan Aviation has permanently loaned a Honeywell TFE731 engine to Lincoln North Star High School’s aviation program to give students hands-on training experience. Originally earmarked for Duncan Aviation’s apprentice program in Provo, Utah, the engine was eventually reallocated to avoid duplicating resources and to provide a community impact for students. “We’ve always believed in using real-world equipment to build confidence and competence in our technicians. When this engine no longer had a home internally, it made perfect sense to extend that same opportunity to students at Lincoln North Star,” said Kasey Harwick, executive vice president and chief operating officer at Duncan Aviation.

GA Telesis has donated two Rolls-Royce Trent 800 engines to Broward College, an investment it values at $4.1 million. GA Telesis President and CEO Abdol Moabery says the provision of modern engine technology to students means the company is “fundamentally changing how aviation technicians are trained” and “raises the standard of technical education and ensures graduates are prepared to meet the evolving demands of global fleets.”

Paris-based CCE Group has acquired InTech Aerospace, a cabin interiors specialist focused on cabin repair, refurbishment, fabrication and aftermarket support services headquartered in Houston. CCE Group says the acquisition expands its cabin capabilities and reinforces its presence in North America.

Executive Jet Support Boosts Aircraft Portfolio

Executive Jet Support (EJS) has signed a letter of intent to acquire an Airbus A330 from Air Caraibes Atlantique. It has also acquired an ATR72-500 from FlyCAA, which will be torn down in Poland to support EJS’s continued investment in the ATR program.

APOC Triples Landing Gear Inventory

APOC Aviation has acquired what it calls a “zero-cycles-since-new” Safran landing gear for the Airbus A321 that is compatible with Airbus’ new engine option fleet. The company says it has tripled its landing gear assets in the last 12 months, adding options for both widebody and narrowbody platforms, and seeking to support both new and aging aircraft platforms.
