CommuteAir Closing Lincoln Maintenance Facility

U.S. regional airline CommuteAir plans to close its maintenance facility at Lincoln Airport in Nebraska and lay off all employees there. The facility opened in summer 2023 and announced expansion plans in April 2024. CommuteAir has cited “operational challenges and business needs” for the closure.

Werner Aero Expands Warehouse Facility

Werner Aero has expanded its warehouse facility in Mahwah, New Jersey, by an additional 22,000 ft.² to increase its inventory storage capacity. The company says the expansion will help it provide greater component availability and faster turnaround times.

FL Technics Indonesia Gets MAX Maintenance Approvals

FL Technics Indonesia has received certification from the Indonesian Directorate General of Civil Aviation to perform line and base maintenance on Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. The approval covers both 737-8 and -9 variants with CFM Leap-1B engines at the company’s facilities at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta and Nurah Rai International Airport in Bali.

ExecuJet Haite Gets Kazakhstan Maintenance Approval

ExecuJet Haite has been certified by the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan to perform line and base maintenance on Bombardier Challenger series and Embraer Legacy business jets. The certification is ExecuJet Haite’s first in the Central Asian region.

TAT Technologies Lands Cargo Carrier APU Deal

TAT Technologies has signed a five-year MRO agreement with what it says is a leading cargo carrier. The deal is a 5-year extension of its existing contract for auxiliary power unit (APU) repairs on the cargo carrier’s Boeing 767 and 757 aircraft, and it includes APU repairs for Boeing 737 and Airbus A300. TAT Technologies also won a 7-year Boeing 777 APU contract, which it expects to sign sometime between May and June.

PAG Australia Signs Honeywell Distribution Deal

Precision Aviation Group Australia has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Honeywell Aerospace Technologies, under which it will provide sales and support services for the IntuVue RDR-7000 Weather Radar System for AW139 commercial helicopters through March 2028.

ADE Gains FAA, EASA Certifications

Asia Digital Engineering (ADE) has been awarded maintenance organization approval from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency and a repair station certificate from the FAA. The company says the new certifications enable it to provide services to more international airlines.

Lufthansa Technik To Service SAS A350s In Malta

Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) has signed a multi-year agreement with Lufthansa Technik Malta for the base maintenance of its Airbus A350 fleet. Starting in 2026, the agreement will see the airline send its A350s to the Malta site, which is a center of excellence for the Airbus manufactured widebody aircraft. The new contract includes two-, four- and six-year checks for the aircraft.

Supraero, Aero Equipement Merge

Aerospace components provider Supraero and Aero Equipement, an aviation industry services specialist, have merged to become SuprAero Equipement. The combined company will offer distribution of on-board components and chemicals, as well as technical support, custom kits, supply chain management and regulatory expertise.

United Aero Group Closes GE Distribution Deal

GE Aerospace has signed a limited distribution agreement with United Aero Group, authorizing it to distribute CT7/T700 engine parts and spares.

Western Global Opens New Arkansas Maintenance Base

Western Global Airlines has opened a new base maintenance facility at Arkansas International Airport, which it plans to begin operating from in June. The facility includes a 50,000 ft.² hangar and 40,000 ft.² of storage, as well as adjacent component repair, sheet metal and machine shops.

Starlux Airlines Picks AMOS Software

Tawain-based Starlux Airlines has signed up for Swiss-AS’s AMOS maintenance software to digitally manage technical documentation related to task cards. It plans to go live with the software this summer.

Allflight Corporation Added To Boeing Approved Suppliers List

Allflight Corporation has been added to Boeing’s approved suppliers list as an FAA Part 145 MRO supplier. Mike Singley, vice president of operations at Allflight, says the audit approval from Boeing enhances the company’s role in the supply chain and “opens doors to a new tier of global customers.”

ATR Renews Braathens Regional Airlines Support

Braathens Regional Airlines has renewed its global maintenance agreement with ATR for five years. In addition to providing fleet support, landing gear overhaul and repair services, and access to a pool of line replaceable units, ATR will provide tailored training solutions for the airline’s flight crews.

Boeing Opens New German Parts Distribution Center

Boeing has opened its third parts distribution center in Germany. The warehouse in Dormagen will store more than 9,000 unique Boeing aircraft parts and primarily support Boeing commercial airline customers in Europe.

Satys, Airod Establish Aircraft Painting JV

Satys and Airod Aerospace Technology have established a joint venture to strengthen MRO capabilities in the Asia-Pacific region. The joint venture will focus on aircraft exterior painting and finishing.

UAE-based Aeras Aviation is expanding in the U.S. and appointed two leaders to support its strategy. Todd Jensen was appointed executive vice president of strategy and growth and Victor Lopez as executive vice president of operations. Both are based at Aeras's recently opened Miami facility.

AFI KLM E&M, Cebu Pacific Extend Component Agreement

Cebu Pacific has extended its component maintenance contract with AFI KLM E&M for 10 years. The contract covers MRO services for Cebu’s Airbus A320/A321 CEO and NEO fleet, as well as the implementation of AFI KLM E&M’s Prognos predictive maintenance system on the airline’s components and auxiliary power units.

EirTrade Aviation To Service Leased A330s

EirTrade Aviation announced it will service four Airbus A330-300s acquired by Scissortail Aviation International Leasing I Limited during the term of their leases and through their end-of-life phase, including greentime engine leasing and disassembly.

Antavia/Ametek MRO Extends DHC Waterbomber MRO Deal

Antavia/Ametek MRO has extended its MRO contract with De Havilland Canada covering CL215, 215T and 415 landing gear systems on DHC waterbombers. The company has invested more than €10 million ($11.1 million) in spare parts and says it continually expands its component stock to reduce turnaround times.

EngineStands24 Rebrands To Magnetic Enginestands

Magnetic Group subsidiary EngineStands24 has rebranded as Magnetic Enginestands. The company says the rebranding is part of efforts to align with the rest of Magnetic Group’s businesses under one brand identity.

Engine Assurance Program, Aero-Dienst Partner On Services

Aero-Dienst has signed an agreement with Dallas-based engine services provider Engine Assurance Program focused on optimizing and expanding maintenance and repair services for engines and auxiliary power units in Europe. The agreement will initially focus on Honeywell TFE731 engines and add other engine types gradually.

AerFin Completes 777 Teardown, Grows USM Inventory

AerFin has finished the first in a series of planned Boeing 777 teardowns over the next year to grow its used serviceable material (USM) inventory. The teardown on the 777-300ER, formerly operated by Japan Airlines, took place in New Mexico. Major components, such as nacelles and reverse thrusters, are being secured in Arizona while the majority of harvested parts have been relocated to AerFin’s Miami warehouse.

SkyWest Plans Shreveport Maintenance Base

SkyWest Airlines has chosen to establish a maintenance base at Shreveport Regional Airport in Louisiana, which it expects to be operational by the second half of this year. The base, which will be SkyWest’s thirteenth, is expected to create 150 new direct jobs.

USM Demand Drives AerSale Revenue Growth

In its first quarter results, AerSale reported that greater demand for its used serviceable material (USM) business helped drive increased revenue 23.4% to $64 million. AerSale said sales were up 81.7% year over year to $37.5 million, driven by USM volume and higher leasing.

Magnetic Engines Lands New CFM56 Engine Repair Deal

Magnetic Engines has signed an agreement with Deutsche Lufthansa AG subsidiary Group Engine Management to provide CFM International CFM56-5B engine repairs for engines managed by the company. Magnetic will provide repairs from its workshop in Tallinn, Estonia.

FL Technics Gets New 737 MAX Base Maintenance Approval

FL Technics has been granted approval by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency to perform Boeing 737 MAX base maintenance services. The approval covers both 737-8 and 737-9 models powered by CFM Leap-1B engines.

Gogo Gets PMA Approval For FDX Antenna

Gogo has received FAA parts manufacturer approval (PMA) for its Galileo FDX antenna, and it is now working on creating supplemental type certificates for the antenna’s installation on super-midsize and larger aircraft types. It expects to introduce the FDX antenna for commercial service in late 2025. Gogo also recently achieved PMA approval for its HDX antenna.

ATS Boosts Window Heat Control Unit Capabilities

ATS has added additional tooling to its component repair shop in Everett, Washington, that will enable it to take on more window heat control unit service bulletin work. The company says it has completed nearly 800 modifications and repairs on Koito window heat control units.

Wizz Air Selects AI Maintenance Forecasting Tool

Wizz Air has selected Aerogility’s artificial intelligence-based digital twin technology to forecast future heavy base maintenance needs for its current and future fleet. The technology will integrate with Wizz Air’s Swiss-AS AMOS maintenance software.

Air Canada Express Starts Cabin Refurbishments

Airline holding company Jazz has begun the first phase of a cabin refurbishment program for aircraft operated under the Air Canada Express brand. Refurbishments include upgraded wi-fi, larger overhead storage bins, new lightweight seats with in-seat power supply and refreshed cabin interiors for its Embraer 175s and Bombardier CRJ900s. Some of its De Havilland Canada Dash 8-400s will also receive wi-fi connectivity and new lightweight seats.

Air Seychelles Taps Airbus For CAMO Support

Air Seychelles has signed an agreement with Airbus for fleet technical management services to support the continuing airworthiness management organization (CAMO) activities of its A320neo fleet. In addition to providing engineering support to the airline’s maintenance control center, Airbus will also offer preventive actions aimed at improving aircraft operational reliability and reducing maintenance costs.

VSE Corp. Acquires Turbine Weld Industries

VSE Corporation has acquired Turbine Weld Industries, a Venice, Florida-based MRO provider focused on complex engine components for business and general aviation platforms, such as Pratt & Whitney Canada PW100, PT6 and JT15D engines. The deal is valued at approximately $50 million, subject to working capital adjustments.

TP Aerospace Signs Wheels and Brakes Contract With Dubai Cargo Carrier

TP Aerospace has signed a new agreement to provide wheels and breaks for Dubai-based cargo airline SolitAir. The program will support the airline’s current and future Boeing 737NG aircraft fleet expansion, providing a comprehensive supply of wheels and brakes. SolitAir plans to expand its operations to 14 aircraft, with activities extending beyond its Dubai base.

Flybondi Picks FAdeA For 737NG Maintenance

Flybondi has signed an agreement with FAdeA to perform maintenance on the Argentinean low-cost carrier’s Boeing 737NG fleet. FAdeA has been working with Flybondi since 2018 when it began performing component maintenance on its 737-800s.

U.S. Landing Gear Specialist Signs Cargo Airline Contract

U.S.-based Component Overhaul Services has signed a new two-year agreement with Moldovan cargo carrier Aerotranscargo to deliver landing gear overhaul and support services for the airline's Boeing 747-400 aircraft fleet.

Lufthansa Technik Reports Q1 Progress, Challenges

Lufthansa Technik reported in its first quarter earnings that it has signed 176 contracts so far this year and it has begun recruiting employees for its new Lufthansa Technik Canada site in Calgary. CEO Soeren Stark noted that the company is “studying and preparing for the possible effects of increased customs duties” and that ongoing challenges with material supply continue to create challenges.

SkyWest Airlines Buys Used CRJ900s

During SkyWest Airlines’ first quarter earnings call, Chief Commercial Officer Wade Steele announced that the carrier had reached a $28 million agreement with another regional carrier to purchase 29 used Bombardier CRJ900 airframes that it will use for parts to mitigate supply chain challenges.
