Safran Opens Sarasota Electrical Systems MRO Facility Expansion

Safran Electrical & Power has opened an expansion to its facility in Sarasota, Florida, dedicated to MRO of aerospace electrical systems. Safran says the new facility consolidates all electrical activities previously performed by Thales’ aeronautical electrical systems business (which it acquired in 2023) in Orlando. The facility also now offers specialized maintenance of electrical generators, power electronics and lithium battery systems.

Former SAAT Technician Gets Prison Sentence For Components Theft

South African Airways Technical and its parent airline have announced that a former avionics technician for the company has been convicted and sentenced for the theft of high-value aircraft components. Lucas Sekae was sentenced to 18 years’ imprisonment for three counts of theft.

Stratton Aviation Signs CFM56 Teardown Deal

Stratton Aviation has signed an agreement with FAA Part 145 repair station Jet AirWerks covering the teardown of CFM International CFM56-5B/-7B engines at Jet AirWerks’ engine services center. Stratton Aviation says it plans to “significantly expand” its CFM56 asset portfolio this year.

Unilode And SATCO Open LAX MRO Facility

Unit load device specialist Unilode and aviation cargo equipment and restraint systems manufacturer SATCO have opened a new MRO facility at Los Angeles International Airport. Unilode will provide on-site maintenance and repair services for SATCO equipment from the facility.

Air Mauritius Extends A350 Support Deal With AFI KLM E&M

Air Mauritius has signed a multi-year extension of its agreement with AFI KLM E&M covering pool and repair support for components and auxiliary power units on its Airbus A350 fleet.

HAECO Extends ANA Line Maintenance Support

HAECO has extended its line maintenance partnership with All Nippon Airways (ANA) in Hong Kong through 2030. It will continue to provide comprehensive line maintenance support for ANA’s Boeing 787s, as well as Boeing 767 and 777 freighters.

GATES Gets Mongolian CFM56 Certification

GA Telesis Engine Services (GATES) has received certification from the Civil Aviation Authority of Mongolia to perform CFM International CFM56 engine overhaul services for operators within the country. GATES says the certification is further strengthened by a new partnership with MIAT Mongolian Airlines to provide CFM56-7B MRO support.

LHT Signs Landmark CFM56 Deal With Juneyao Group

China’s Juneyao Group has signed an agreement with Lufthansa Technik (LHT) for comprehensive CFM International CFM56 engine overhaul services. The deal covers more than 40 engine events for Juneyao Air and 9 Air, including services such as overhauls, condition monitoring and engineering consultation. LHT says the agreement is its largest-ever engine services commitment with a Chinese company. It will provide services from its engine shop in Hamburg.

SkySelect Raises $9 Million In Funding

AI-powered parts procurement platform SkySelect has secured $9 million in funding. It says Verb Ventures and RockCreek co-led the round, with participation from existing investors Bain Capital Ventures and Lux Capital, as well as SmartCap Green Fund, which backs Estonian funds and Greentech startups.

CommuteAir Implements AireXpert Software

CommuteAir has rolled out AireXpert software to improve control, coordination and visibility of its technical operations. According to Ryan Kee, senior vice president of maintenance strategy at the regional carrier, AireXpert “has strengthened how we manage maintenance events by bringing clearer communication and better data structure into the process.” CommuteAir is also completing its paperless transition to TrustFlight’s Electronic Tech Log and MEL Manager software.

AIM MRO Acquires AA Bushings

AIM MRO Holdings has acquired AA Bushings, a manufacturer of landing gear overhaul bushings and related parts for commercial and military aircraft. AIM MRO says the acquisition provides an opportunity for AA Bushings to leverage its global footprint and adds landing gear products to its portfolio for the first time.

Skyways Technics Opens SZB MRO Facility

Skyways Technics has opened a new MRO facility at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (SZB) in Kuala Lumpur. Operating as Skyways Technics Aircraft Maintenance (STAM), the facility will provide services for ATR aircraft, including maintenance checks, modifications, service bulletins, supplemental type certificates, aircraft-on-ground and line maintenance support. STAM is in the final stage of certification from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia and the FAA for ATR base and line maintenance.

Air India Taps HAECO For Shanghai Widebody Line Maintenance

HAECO has signed a contract with Air India to provide line maintenance services for its widebody fleet at Shanghai Pudong International Airport. The contract, which runs through 2029, covers Airbus A350s, Boeing 777s and 787s.

TAT Extends APU MRO Deal With Cargo Carrier

TAT Technologies has signed a two-year extension of its auxiliary power unit (APU) MRO contract with an unnamed cargo carrier. It says the deal, which covers Honeywell GTCP331-200/250 APUs, is worth approximately $36 million.

FlyHouse Acquires JetsMRO

Private jet charter provider FlyHouse has acquired JetsMRO, A Dallas-based FAA Part 145 aircraft maintenance provider specialized in business jets. FlyHouse CEO Jack E. Lambert, Jr. says the acquisition strengthens its maintenance infrastructure and “establishes an important base in Dallas.”

Air Nostrum Expands Fokker Services Group CRJ Cooperation

Air Nostrum Engineering and Maintenance has renewed and expanded its component support agreement with Fokker Services Group (FSG), covering its growing fleet of Mitsubishi CRJ aircraft. Under the new, long-term power-by-the-hour agreement, FSG will provide component maintenance services, inventory support and leasing, guaranteed availability and 24/7 operational support under its ABACUS Program.

Florida-based luxury carrier Magnifica Air has selected Trax eMRO and eMobility software to support paperless maintenance operations. Magnifica Air aims to launch in 2027 with a fleet of Airbus ACJ220-300s and ACJ321neos.

Kalitta Air Taps Sharp Technics For 777 Heavy Checks

Kalitta Air has established a partnership with Korean MRO Sharp Technics K for a Boeing 777 nose-to-tail heavy check line starting in May.

New Aircraft Mechanic School In Fort Worth

Aviation training provider Thrust Flight has opened a new aircraft mechanic school at its newly opened campus at Fort Worth Spinks Airport in Texas. The 10-month FAA-approved program will operate as Thrust Institute of Maintenance. The campus will also offer professional pilot training.

Airhub Inks AerCap Maintenance Deal

Airhub Aviation has signed a strategic maintenance agreement with AerCap to provide base maintenance and aircraft redelivery services from its facility at Siauliai International Airport in Lithuania. Under the agreement, Airhub Aviation will also provide a range of other services, including avionics modifications, cabin reconfigurations, engine swaps, landing gear replacements and component management.

American Airlines Donates APU To AIM Chicago Campus

American Airlines has donated an auxiliary power unit previously used on a McDonnell Douglas MD80 to the Aviation Institute of Maintenance’s Chicago campus. The airline says it has hired more than 100 aviation maintenance technicians in recent months for its line maintenance organization at Chicago O’Hare International Airport.

Construction Begins In Kazakhstan On Large MRO Center

Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport has announced that Boeing and SCAT Airlines have started construction of a 45,000 m2 (approximately 500,000 ft.2) MRO center in Shymkent that will focus on services for 737 family, 757, 767 and potentially 777 aircraft. It says the MRO facility is expected to become the largest in Central Asia and should attract business from foreign airlines.

AviLease Taps StandardAero For CFM Engine MRO

StandardAero has signed a general terms agreement with Saudi Arabia-based aircraft lessor AviLease. Under the deal, StandardAero will provide MRO services for CFM International Leap and CFM56-7B engines to support AviLease’s global leasing activities.

AJW Group Inks A330ceo PBH Deal With ASL Aviation Holdings

AJW Group has signed a new power-by-the-hour support contract with ASL Aviation Holdings covering airframe support for two Airbus A330ceos. The program, which started earlier this year, will last for an initial four-year period.

SR Technics has signed a new multi-year agreement with an unnamed North American carrier for CFM International CFM56-7B heavy shop visit maintenance. It says the deal strengthens its presence in North America.

Teardown Begins On Executive Jet Support A321

Executive Jet Support reports that the teardown of its recently acquired Airbus A321 has started in Tallinn, Estonia. The company purchased the aircraft from Sunclass Airlines and says the relatively young airframe will provide it with “the opportunity to introduce a wide range of modern, high-demand components” into its inventory.

DASI Acquires Mesa’s CRJ Spares Inventory

DASI has acquired spare parts inventories covering Mesa Airlines’ entire Bombardier CRJ-700 and CRJ-900 fleet to support the regional carrier’s fleet transition to Embraer E-Jets through its integration with Republic Airways Holdings, following its merger in late 2025. According to DASI President Mike Heaton, the agreement has provided “a clear path to unlock capital tied up in surplus inventory” with “minimal operational impact,” and the company supported more than 20 airlines and MROs last year with agreements of this type.

Corax Doubles Warehouse Capacity

Danish components specialist Corax has completed its third warehouse expansion in Copenhagen, which doubles the size of its facility there and adds more component storage capacity, better inventory management efficiency and improved customer service, according to the company.

British Airways Adds More DentCHECK Tools

British Airways is adding three more 8tree dentCHECK tools for 3D aircraft dent-mapping. One will be used at its Glasgow narrowbody facility to support base maintenance, and two will be used at London Heathrow to support line and base maintenance.

AAR Signs Otto Avionics Deal

AAR Corp. has signed an agreement with Otto Instrument Service to sell and support its Laseref IV inertial reference system product line for a range of business aircraft.
