Kreeger talks Fleets and JV

RSS

Virgin Atlantic CEO Craig Kreeger talks about Virgin's fleet expansion plans and the benefits of the JV with Delta.

Kreeger says, "Our fleet modernization efforts have really been focused on the 787 Dreamliner. We took our first 787-9 aircraft about 15 or 16 months ago, and we’ve taken 11 so far, which represents well over a quarter of our fleet in less than a year and half. So over the course of year or so plus, we’ll get up to 17 of those.

We’ve taken 10 Airbus A330s in the last few years also. Both of which have replaced older 4 engine aircraft, and we’re already seeing great benefits for both customers, environments, and economics.

The Delta joint venture has really allowed us to add some new services to the United States, to connect into Delta's hubs. So we’ve added Manchester to Atlanta, as well as Heathrow to Atlanta, Heathrow to Detroit, offering now to our UK customers all the destinations Delta can take you to from all of those hubs. And also allowing many more U.S. Customers who are Delta frequent flyers, for example, to try Virgin Atlantic for the first time, and it has been fantastic."
