Mammoth Freighters delivered its first converted Boeing 777-200LRMF.
Mammoth Freighters has delivered its first converted Boeing 777-200LRMF (Long Range Mammoth Freighter), with early operators set to include DHL and Qatar Airways over the coming weeks.
The initial aircraft, MSN 32222 (registered N703DN), was delivered to U.S. aircraft trading and leasing company Jetran for operation by DHL on Aug. 21.
“This delivery is a defining moment for Mammoth Freighters,” Mammoth Freighters CEO Bill Tarpley said. “Seeing this aircraft transition from its public debut [at the 2026 Farnborough Airshow]—and pending entry into revenue service with DHL.”
Jetran has more than two dozen 777-200LRMFs on order, and 13 of these are destined to be operated by cargo giant DHL. In a 2023 press release, DHL said it was anticipating its first Mammoth-converted 777-200LR in 2024, with the remaining aircraft arriving by early 2027.
“Additional deliveries from Jetran’s order book—including aircraft bound for DHL and Qatar Airways—are scheduled to follow in the coming weeks,” Mammoth said Aug. 21.
Texas-headquartered Mammoth received FAA supplemental type certification for the 777-200LRMF in April, and the company said its 777-300ERMF conversion is “soon-to-be-certified.”
Other companies working on 777-300 conversions include Israel Aerospace Industries’ (IAI) 777-300ERSF "Big Twin," which was certified in 2025, and Kansas Modification Center’s 777-300ER conversion program.
Mammoth is developing up to nine production lines globally, including five at Aspire MRO in Texas, two at STS Aviation Services in England and two at STAECO in China.
According to Aviation Week Fleet Forecast data, approximately 81 converted 777-200/300 freighters are expected to be delivered over the next decade. The final 777-200LR passenger aircraft was delivered in 2021.
