SINGAPORE—Mammoth Freighters has announced that the first Boeing 777-200LR for conversion by Chinese MRO provider Staeco has been inducted, three months after the companies announced their partnership.

The aircraft will be converted into Mammoth’s 777-200LRMF configuration at Staeco's facility in Qingdao, China.

Staeco is the first MRO provider in Asia-Pacific to work with Texas-based Mammoth on 777 conversions, providing a more convenient option for aircraft owners and operators in the region. A second conversion line in Qingdao is expected to begin operations in 2027.

According to the Aviation Week Fleet Discovery database, the inducted aircraft, registered as N60VL, is a 17.5-year-old 777-200LR which initially entered service with Delta Air Lines. It was stored in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic and sold to CF Freighters a year later. The aircraft was subsequently sold to Jetran and transferred to its subsidiary, Spectre Overseas Aircraft, before being leased to Air India in 2023. It was returned in May 2026.

Mammoth delivered its first converted 777-200LRMF for DHL operations in August. The company said it has more than two dozen 777-200LRMFs on order for DHL and Qatar Airways.
