Aftermarket providers are turning their attention to Airbus A350 landing gear maintenance as the widebody platform approaches its first round of heavy checks.

A350 landing gear should require overhauls every 12 years, according to Airbus, which would be 2027 for the first aircraft, as the A350-900 entered service in 2015.

In preparation, Safran Landing Systems and Lufthansa Technik (LHT) have signed a 10-year Support and Services Agreement, which covers the supply of certified spare parts, technical and engineering assistance and access to updated maintenance documentation.

The deal covers the A320, A330, A340 and A350 platforms, but also specifically supports the development of A350 support at Lufthansa Technik Landing Gear Services in London, giving LHT direct access to the latest data and repair solutions from Safran Landing Systems, which manufactures the main landing gear for the A350.

Earlier this year, the OEM behind the A350’s nose gear, Liebherr Aerospace, said it had already inducted one nose gear set for servicing at its Lindenberg, Germany, facility, where it is boosting capacity to handle higher volumes.

There are more than 60 A350s older than 10 years in the global fleet, according to Aviation Week’s 2026 Commercial Fleet and MRO Forecast.

Speaking to Aviation Week in March, Sven Dicke, director of business and services at Liebherr-Aerospace & Transportation, noted that maintenance revenues had grown faster than production sales since the pandemic, although Liebherr expects the latter to pick up as new aircraft output ramps up.

This week, Airbus reiterated to investors that it aims to raise A350 production to 12 aircraft per month in 2028, more than double current levels, and possibly go beyond 12 in subsequent years to tap into growing demand for widebody aircraft.

In the first six months of this year, Airbus delivered 25 A350s, while in full-year 2025 it had delivered 57.
