Lufthansa Technik has announced Harald Gloy as its next CEO, succeeding Soeren Stark, who retires at the beginning of February next year.
Gloy, currently chief operating officer (COO) of the German MRO provider, will assume the leadership role for a period of five years. In a statement released Friday (Sep. 4) confirming Gloy’s appointment, Lufthansa Technik said it will soon decide on a successor as COO.
Having started at the Hamburg-based company more than 25 years ago, Gloy has held positions in logistics, corporate strategy, aircraft and engine overhaul and component services. In 2019, Gloy became COO of the Lufthansa Cargo business, later taking on additional responsibilities for human resources and labor relations in 2021.
He returned to Lufthansa Technik in 2022, where, over the past four years, he has overseen the company’s operations and IT as COO and accountable manager. Up until last year, he was also responsible for the maintenance specialist’s human resources functions.
“Harald Gloy combines deep knowledge of Lufthansa Technik with broad leadership experience across the Lufthansa Group,” Lufthansa Technik supervisory board chair Grazia Vittadini said. She added that Gloy had played an important role in the company’s recent performance and possessed strong knowledge of its customers, workforce and the wider MRO market.
Meanwhile, Stark, who joined the Lufthansa Group in 2001 and has led Lufthansa Technik’s executive board since 2022, will remain in charge for the next five months until Gloy assumes his CEO position.
During his tenure as CEO, Lufthansa Technik has expanded its global MRO footprint and pursued its “Ambition 2030” growth strategy, which aims to surpass €10 billion ($10.9 billion) in annual revenue by 2030 by concentrating on areas such as engine and component MRO services.
Financially, the company has been on an upward trajectory post-pandemic. In the first half of 2026, it posted revenues of €4.4 billion and adjusted EBIT of €315 million.
