Cirrus Aircraft has begun construction of a new $13 million facility at the McKinney National Airport (TKI) in Texas to secure additional space for aircraft sales, flight training, factory service and aircraft management. 

The 45,000 ft.² facility, located in McKinney, Texas, 30 miles north of downtown Dallas, will include a 15,000 ft.² storage hangar, eight shade canopies, a flight simulation space, retail store and customer lounge with a panoramic viewing balcony. 

Cirrus, based in Duluth, Minnesota, employs more than 50 at the Texas site with plans to add additional positions in the future, it says. Cirrus began operations in McKinney in 2019. It opened a facility at McKinney National Airport in 2021.

Cirrus currently leases a 15,000 ft.² hangar and about 3000 ft.² office space. It plans to consolidate operations into the new facilities once construction is complete and return the current facilities back to the airport, says Ravi Dharnidharka,  Cirrus Aircraft senior vice president of services.  

The new facility is expected to open in the second quarter of 2024.              

The Dallas Metroplex area is a central location for many owners of Cirrus SR Series and Vision Jet aircraft, the company says. Cirrus produces the SR20, SR22 and SR22T piston-powered aircraft and the Cirrus Vision SF50 business jet.
