Virgin Atlantic will boost capacity on routes from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to Boston and New York for its northern hemisphere summer 2024 schedule.

The airline will open a seventh daily frequency on the LHR-New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) route. It will also add a second daily frequency between LHR and Boston Logan International Airport (BOS).

The airline is operating the routes in coordination with SkyTeam partner Delta Air Lines. On the LHR-JFK route, Delta will operate 3X-daily service during the 2024 summer, giving the carriers a combined 10 daily flights on the route. Delta will also operate 1X-daily service on the LHR-BOS route, giving the airlines a combined 3X-daily flights.

Virgin Atlantic indicated it will use Airbus A330-900neo and A350-1000 aircraft on both the LHR-JFK and LHR-BOS routes during the 2024 summer season.

“With Boston and New York JFK being key business and leisure travel routes, customers can rely on Virgin Atlantic to connect them to these popular destinations as we offer more opportunities to travel with our expanded offering," Virgin Atlantic CCO Juha Jarvinen says in a statement.

Virgin Atlantic previously announced it would boost flights on the LHR-Miami International Airport route from 11X-weekly to 2X-daily for the 2024 summer. LHR to Orlando, Florida, and San Francisco are the other U.S. routes on which 2X-daily service is planned.

Overall, the carrier says it will offer an average of 27 daily flights to the U.S. in its summer 2024 schedule.
