TunisAir opens new route to London
TunisAir has begun a twice weekly route between Djerba and London
The direct Djerba-London air-link opened on Friday with the first plane-landing at the Djerba airport, with 90 passengers onboard, including journalists, diplomats and tour operators' representatives.
The new service , which is part of the promotion strategy jointly adopted by the Tourism Ministry and Tunisia's flagship carrier will ensure two regular flights a week (on Monday and Thursday), with the aim further attract British tourists to Tunisia and promote Tunisian tourism on the English market in general.
Tunisia attracts each year more than 300,000 British visitors. According to the tour operator 'travelsupermarket', Tunisia ranks as one among the best 10 destinations preferred by British tourists.
Following Tunisia's signing in 2008 of the Open sky agreement, British low -cost airlines such as Ryanair and Thompson fly Easy Jet and Jet 2 are able to operate direct flights from London to Tunisian airports.
