Feb. 7

 

Indian LCC IndiGo has commenced operations to Bikaner, its 90th domestic destination and the 127th overall point in its network. Service from Bikaner to New Delhi will be offered daily. “Bikaner will be our 5th destination in Rajasthan, and this addition will offer customers with increased access to Rajasthan’s rich cultural heritage and further strengthen the state’s connectivity,” Head of Global Sales Vinay Malhotra says. Additionally, Kazakhstan's Transport Ministry has reported that IndiGo plans to introduce a route between New Delhi and Astana from May 14. The service will be offered three times per week using Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft.


Saudi Arabian LCC flynas is launching a new route to Egypt during the northern summer 2025 season. Flights will between Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport and El Alamein International Airport will start on July 1. The service will operate twice a week.


BermudAir is expanding its network with new nonstop routes to Bermuda from Richmond, Virginia; Providence, Rhode Island; and Montreal, Quebec. The airline will operate twice-weekly flights from each city, beginning May 22 for Providence, June 7 for Richmond and June 12 for Montreal. It is also increasing frequencies on existing routes, including Orlando, Toronto and Halifax, Nova Scotia, supported by the addition of two more Embraer 190s. The new routes and enhanced service will be operated using BermudAir’s fleet of E175 and E190 aircraft.


Ryanair has confirmed that it will remove one of its Rome-based aircraft from Rome Fiumicino Airport for summer 2025 and is planning zero traffic growth at Rome Ciampino Airport, citing increased airport fees and restrictive flight limits. The ULCC warned that without immediate policy changes, Italy risks losing air connectivity and tourism revenue to other European countries.


United Airlines will resume service between New York’s Newark Liberty International Airport and Tel Aviv on March 15, with plans to add a second daily flight starting March 29. The decision follows a thorough operational assessment and collaboration with the airline’s flight attendant and pilot unions. Flights will be operated on Boeing 787-10 aircraft.

Madagascar Airlines has renewed a codeshare agreement with Air France. Under the agreement, Air France-operated flights will carry the designations MD7050 for the Antananarivo-Paris Charles de Gaulle route and MD7051 for the return journey. Flight frequency will range from 4X to 5X-weekly rotations during the current winter season using Boeing 777-200 aircraft, increasing to 7X-weekly flights during summer 2025. Madagascar Airlines will also be able to offer codeshare connections to 10 additional European destinations, including Marseille, Lyon, Milan and Frankfurt. “This partnership with Air France marks a strategic advancement for Madagascar Airlines, allowing our company to offer an expanded and competitive service, provide better connectivity and greater flexibility for our passengers while strengthening our national brand in European markets,” says Madagascar Airlines CEO Thierry de Bailleul.


Ryanair has announced its summer 2025 schedule for Portugal, featuring 169 routes, including four new ones: Porto to Rome and three from Madeira to Milan, Shannon and Bournemouth. The airline will also increase frequencies on several existing routes. One additional Boeing 737-8-200 will be based in Faro and one in Madeira, bringing the total fleet based in Portugal to 29 aircraft. However, the ULCC said there would be zero growth in Lisbon and called on airport operator ANA to reduce fees.


Aeroméxico plans to further expand its international network, adding three new routes from Mexico City to Cali, Panama and Punta Cana. During the summer 2025 season, each of the three new routes will operate daily using Boeing 737 equipment. Cali becomes Aeroméxico’s fourth Colombian destination, joining Bogotá, Medellín and Cartagena.


Kuwait Airways has announced plans to increase flights between Kuwait and London Heathrow Airport to 16X-weekly to meet growing demand. The airline currently offers 13 roundtrip flights per week between the destinations. “The increase in flights to and from London is a significant achievement for the national carrier of the state of Kuwait, as it comes in response to the growing demand for flights between Kuwait and London,” says Kuwait Airways Chairman Abdulmohsen Salem Al-Fagaan.

Canada’s Porter Airlines has announced plans to launch four new routes from John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport (YHM) in June. The new daily services will connect Hamilton to Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax and Vancouver, using the airline’s 132-seat Embraer 195-E2 aircraft. Flights to Halifax and Vancouver will begin June 3, with services to Edmonton and Calgary starting June 11. The move comes as TradePort International Corporation, owned by Vantage Group, unveiled plans for several airport investments at YHM, including an updated exterior frontage and a refresh of terminal interiors.


Frontier Airlines is adding three new routes this spring. Daily nonstop flights between Washington Dulles International Airport and Las Vegas’ Harry Reid International Airport begin May 1. Twice-weekly nonstop service between Charlotte Douglas International Airport and Tampa International Airport starts May 2, increasing to four times per week on May 22. Seasonal service between Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport and Punta Cana International Airport in the Dominican Republic launches May 17.


Saudi Arabian LCC Flynas is launching a new route from Madinah’s Prince Muhammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport to Karachi, Pakistan. Service will start on March 5, operating twice a week. According to OAG Schedules Analyser data, the LCC will compete on the sector with Pakistan International Airlines, which serves the route twice a week.


Air Arabia has launched direct flights between Sharjah and Addis Ababa, expanding its network in Africa. The airline will operate three weekly flights using Airbus A320 aircraft, departing Sharjah on Saturdays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Ali Salim Al Midfa, chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority, says the new route will help to meet the growing demand for passenger and cargo travel between the United Arab Emirates and Ethiopia.


Australia’s Jetstar is expanding its Northern Territory and Queensland network with a new seasonal service between Darwin and the Gold Coast. From June 26 to Oct. 24, the LCC will operate four flights per week using its Airbus A320 fleet. The service will add more than 25,000 seats a year between the destinations. Meanwhile, FlyPelican will launch a new service between Newcastle and Gold Coast Airport on March 24. The airline will operate Jetstream 32 aircraft with 19 seats, providing four roundtrip flights per week.

Eurowings has launched flights between Hamburg and Tel Aviv following the LCC’s decision to return to the Israel market. Flights between the destinations will operate twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays. “The new direct connection to Tel Aviv makes it easier for many people to visit their families and friends in Israel. At the same time, it strengthens the economic and cultural ties between our regions,” says Dirk Behrens, head of aviation at Hamburg Airport.


Saudi Arabia’s flyadeal has introduced its first routes to Pakistan. Service to Karachi from both Jeddah and Riyadh will be offered twice a week. “Pakistan has long been in flyadeal's planning cycle, and finally we've added this very important market with the commercial capital of Karachi the first of many cities expected to be inducted to our network across the country this year,” CEO Steven Greenway says. The routes are expected to support the needs of the large Pakistani community living and working in Saudi Arabia.


Etihad Airways has commenced Airbus A380 service to Singapore Changi Airport, marking the first time the Abu Dhabi-based carrier has operated the aircraft to the airport. “Bringing the A380 to Singapore, along with our broader network expansion plans—including increased frequency on key routes—demonstrates our strong growth momentum in Asia,” says Etihad Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer Arik De.

Latvian carrier airBaltic is increasing frequencies between Tallinn, Estonia, and Amsterdam from March 30. The airline will add an additional daily flight between the cities, taking frequencies to 2X-daily. Tallinn Airport board member Eero Pärgmäe says the expanded service will open up new one-stop connections via Amsterdam thanks to airBaltic’s cooperation with KLM, Air France and Delta Air Lines.


All Nippon Airways (ANA) has launched a new route to Stockholm Arlanda Airport from Tokyo Haneda, strengthening Sweden’s connectivity with Asia. Service will be offered three times per week. “ANA's investment strengthens Sweden's connectivity and further improves our range of destinations at the airport for those traveling for business or to visit friends and family,” says Jonas Abrahamsson, Swedavia's president and CEO. “The relationship between Japan and Sweden has a longstanding history, and we have a mutual interest in the connectivity between our countries being excellent.”


LOT Polish Airlines plans to resume its seasonal Gdansk-Rzeszow service from June 2. Flights will operate twice a week through Sept. 12 using Embraer 175 aircraft. Spokesperson Krzysztof Moczulski says the airline hopes the route will continue to promote domestic tourism in Poland.
