Sept. 4

Malaysia Airlines has resumed nonstop service between Kuala Lumpur and Fukuoka after a 20-year absence, expanding its Japan network to 26X-weekly flights. The route operates up to 5X-weekly using Boeing 737-8 aircraft. The inaugural Kuala Lumpur-Fukuoka flight recorded an 88% load factor, while the return service achieved a 90% load factor. Malaysia Airlines says the resumed route strengthens its joint business with Japan Airlines, with codeshare connections available beyond Fukuoka to nine domestic Japanese destinations. The carrier adds the service will also improve onward connectivity via Kuala Lumpur to destinations across Malaysia, Southeast Asia, South Asia and Australasia while supporting inbound tourism for Visit Malaysia 2026. Separately, Malaysia Airlines has scheduled the launch of a new route between Kuala Lumpur and Busan, South Korea. Flights will start on Dec. 2.

LOT Polish Airlines has opened ticket sales for a new seasonal route between Warsaw and Turin, offering weekly Saturday flights from Jan. 16 through March 27, 2027. The service, operated by Boeing 737-8 aircraft, is aimed at winter leisure travelers, providing access to Italy's Piedmont region and nearby ski resorts. “Vialattea and Bardonecchia offer up to 500 km (310 mi.) of slopes combined, while the short distances between the airport, the city and the ski resorts provide greater flexibility when planning a trip,” LOT CCO Robert Ludera says.

IndiGo will commence daily nonstop service between Mumbai and Hanoi, Vietnam, from Oct. 25. The new route will complement the airline's existing daily flights to the Vietnamese capital from New Delhi and Kolkata. Flights will depart Mumbai at 4:15 a.m. and return from Hanoi at 7:05 p.m. local time.

GOL Linhas Aereas plans to increase nonstop service between Rio de Janeiro Galeao International Airport and Lisbon from four to five weekly flights starting Nov. 24. The additional Tuesday frequency will come two months after the route’s Sept. 16 launch, which will mark GOL's first scheduled service between Brazil and Europe and the debut of its long-haul Airbus A330 operations. “With the fifth weekly frequency between Rio de Janeiro and Lisbon on the eve of the high season, we have expanded travel options for customers from all over Brazil and strengthened connectivity with Portugal, one of the most sought after international destinations by Brazilians,” GOL Commercial Vice President Mateus Pongeluppi says.

Ryanair will extend its route between Kosice, Slovakia, and Malaga, Spain, into the winter 2026-27 season, marking the first time the airline has operated the service year-round. The winter schedule from Kosice will comprise five routes, with weekly frequencies increasing 13% year over year. Ryanair says the move reflects strong demand for the Spain service and will provide the only nonstop winter link between eastern Slovakia and Spain.

Sept. 3

Oman’s SalamAir has launched 2X-weekly nonstop service between Muscat and Mogadishu, Somalia, using Airbus A320s. The new route is designed to strengthen the LCC’s presence in East Africa and to support business, trade and VFR traffic, while providing onward connections through Muscat to destinations across the Middle East and Asia. The airline says the service also supports Oman's Vision 2040 strategy by enhancing international connectivity and economic diversification.

Pakistan International Airlines will increase capacity on two UK routes from Oct. 27, boosting Islamabad-London Heathrow service from 3X-weekly to 5X-weekly and Lahore-London Heathrow from weekly to 2X-weekly. The airline resumed both routes in March after the lifting of its UK operating ban and remains the sole scheduled carrier on both city pairs, according to OAG Schedules Analyser data.

U.S. carrier Contour Airlines plans to commence nonstop service between Williamsport Regional Airport and Charlotte Douglas International Airport. Flights will operate daily from Oct. 19. “This route gives travelers in the Williamsport region an easy connection to Charlotte and the many destinations available from there, while also making air travel more accessible for those who live and work in the area,” Contour Airlines President Ben Munson says.

Southwest Airlines and LOT Polish Airlines have launched an interline partnership, allowing customers to book single-ticket itineraries connecting the two carriers' networks. The agreement enables connections via Los Angeles, Miami and San Francisco between Southwest's U.S. network and LOT's services from its Warsaw hub to destinations across Central and Eastern Europe, as well as long-haul markets in North America, Asia and India. LOT becomes Southwest's 11th airline partner.

Etihad Airways has upgraded its planned Abu Dhabi-Gothenburg, Sweden, route from seasonal to year-round service following strong booking demand. The airline says the route, announced in August, has seen strong demand from both Sweden and the UAE since sales opened. Service will begin as planned on Dec. 17, operating 4X-weekly using Airbus A321LR aircraft configured with 160 seats across first, business and economy cabins.

Sept. 2

Pegasus Airlines and AirAsia have launched a codeshare partnership linking their networks via Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen and Kuala Lumpur, marking AirAsia's first-ever codeshare agreement. Under the partnership, Pegasus customers can book AirAsia X-operated flights between Istanbul and Kuala Lumpur with through check-in and baggage, connecting from the carrier's domestic and international network. AirAsia passengers can also book onward Pegasus flights from Istanbul to destinations including London Stansted, Moscow Vnukovo, Zurich, Athens and Ankara on a single ticket. AirAsia X has operated the Kuala Lumpur-Istanbul route 4X-weekly since November 2025 and plans to increase the service to daily by February 2027. The airlines say they intend to expand the codeshare to additional destinations across their respective networks.

Allegiant will commence year-round nonstop service from Flint Bishop International Airport to Orlando International Airport and Southwest Florida International Airport in February 2027, while increasing frequencies on its Sarasota and St. Pete-Clearwater routes. Flights to Orlando will begin Feb. 10, followed by Fort Myers on Feb. 11. The airline will also add service on the Sarasota route to 3X-weekly (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) from Feb. 10 and increase St. Pete-Clearwater to 3X-weekly (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays) from Feb. 11. Allegiant says the expansion strengthens its leisure network from Flint and provides additional year-round nonstop options between Michigan and Florida.

TAAG Angola Airlines has signed a codeshare agreement with LATAM Brasil, giving its passengers access to more than 50 destinations across Brazil via Sao Paulo Guarulhos. The partnership expands connectivity beyond TAAG's Luanda-Sao Paulo service with through-ticketing, coordinated baggage handling and connections on LATAM-operated domestic flights. TAAG says the agreement supports its strategy of strengthening Luanda's Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport as a hub linking Africa and South America. The carrier adds that the partnership could later be expanded to include LATAM's international network across South and North America.

Lufthansa plans to boost long-haul capacity from Munich during January and February 2027 by adding frequencies to Bangkok, Bengaluru, Johannesburg and Singapore. The airline will operate a second daily Airbus A380 service to Bangkok between Jan. 16 and Feb. 27, while Bengaluru and Johannesburg will each receive up to two additional weekly flights through Feb. 13. Singapore will also gain up to two extra weekly frequencies from Jan. 17 through Feb. 18.

Condor and Qantas have launched an interline partnership, enabling passengers to book single-ticket itineraries with through-checked baggage between the airlines' networks. The agreement covers shared hubs including Bangkok, Johannesburg, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Vancouver, Paris and Rome. Condor says the partnership forms part of its strategy to expand its international partner network, following new interline agreements this year with Etihad Airways, EVA Air, Saudia, Air Astana, Japan Airlines, Hainan Airlines, Cathay Pacific and Uzbekistan Airways. A partnership with Thai Airways also took effect on Sept. 1.

GOL Linhas Aéreas is opening a seasonal 2X-weekly route between Florianopolis, Brazil, and Asuncion, Paraguay, from Jan. 5 through Feb. 14, 2027, marking the first nonstop service between the cities. The flights, operated using Boeing 737 aircraft, are timed to serve peak summer and Carnival travel demand between Brazil and Paraguay.

Air Europa has resumed nonstop Madrid-Caracas service, restoring flights after operating temporarily via Valencia, Venezuela, following the June 24 earthquakes. The Spanish carrier will again serve Caracas five times a week—on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays—using Boeing 787 aircraft.

Qatar Airways plans to resume service to four Saudi Arabian destinations during the winter 2026-27 season, increasing its schedule to more than 155X-weekly flights to the country—more than 10% higher than during the summer. The airline will restart 2X-weekly Doha-Qassim flights on Oct. 25, followed by Taif on Oct. 31, Yanbu on Jan. 2, 2027, and Tabuk on Jan. 3. Qatar Airways says the expanded winter schedule reflects its long-term commitment to the Saudi market, where it carried more than 2.3 million passengers over the past 12 months. The resumptions will expand the carrier's Saudi network to 12 destinations, with Neom due to rejoin the network in the second half of 2027.

Sept. 1

Aerolíneas Argentinas will launch flights between Buenos Aires Ezeiza and Curaçao on Jan. 2, 2027, marking the carrier's first service to the Caribbean island. The seasonal route will operate four times a week through March 29, comprising two nonstop flights and two one-stop services via Aruba. The Curaçao Tourist Board says the new route reflects strong growth in demand from Argentina, with the island welcoming 23,924 stayover visitors from the market during the first seven months of 2026, up 79% year over year. July arrivals increased 69% to 4,862 visitors. Tourism officials say the new service will strengthen connectivity between Argentina and Curaçao, support further growth in visitor numbers from South America, and provide additional travel options for residents and business travelers.

Wizz Air has confirmed it will open a base in Valencia, Spain, on Nov. 2, stationing two aircraft and launching seven new routes. The new base will support five domestic routes—to Asturias, Bilbao, Palma de Mallorca, Santander and Santiago de Compostela—and two international services to Brasov, Romania, and Naples, Italy. The carrier also confirmed plans to establish a Madrid base, from which it will launch new routes to Asturias, Palma de Mallorca, Pisa and Santiago de Compostela, while increasing frequencies on services to London Luton, Milan Malpensa and Rome Fiumicino.

Oman’s SalamAir has commenced flights between Muscat and Sylhet, Bangladesh. Sylhet is the Omani LCC's third destination in Bangladesh after Dhaka and Chittagong. The inaugural flight departed Muscat with an approximately 70% load factor, reflecting what the airline described as encouraging initial demand. SalamAir says the route is aimed at serving the large Bangladeshi expatriate community in Oman while supporting its strategy of expanding into underserved markets with strong point-to-point demand.

Avianca will expand its Venezuela network by resuming daily Bogota-Caracas service on Sept. 1, days after launching daily Bogota-Maracaibo flights on Aug. 28. The Bogota-Caracas route returns following an operational and safety assessment conducted with aviation authorities after the June earthquakes in Venezuela.

South Africa’s Airlink will launch a scheduled nonstop domestic service between Gqeberha and Mbombela on Nov. 16, operating three times per week. The route will connect South Africa's Sunshine Coast and Garden Route with the Kruger National Park region, eliminating the need for passengers to connect via Johannesburg. Flights will be operated using Embraer's 44-seat ERJ 140 aircraft. Airlink CEO de Villiers Engelbrecht says the new service will significantly reduce travel times for leisure travelers while also supporting business links between the Eastern Cape and Mpumalanga.

LATAM Airlines Brasil will launch three seasonal domestic routes for the southern summer peak, adding direct services from Goiania to Maceio and Fortaleza and from Rio de Janeiro Galeao to Maceio. The Goiania-Maceio and Goiania-Fortaleza routes will each operate 5X-weekly from Dec. 14 through Feb. 8, 2027, while the Rio de Janeiro Galeao-Maceio service will operate daily between Dec. 14 and Feb. 14. All three routes will be operated using Airbus A320 aircraft.

Aug. 31

Aer Lingus Regional, operated by Emerald Airlines, will double frequencies on the Dublin to Inverness, Scotland, route from 2X-weekly to 4X-weekly between Sept. 25 and Oct. 26. The service will revert to 2X-weekly for the winter before returning to 4X-weekly flights from March 14, 2027. The additional frequencies will provide greater flexibility for passengers traveling between the Scottish Highlands and Ireland, while also improving onward connections via Dublin.

FlyArystan will resume 2X-weekly Aktau-Istanbul service on Oct. 22, restoring the route as part of its international expansion from western Kazakhstan. Regular operations will begin on Oct. 27 with Tuesday and Saturday flights. The LCC also plans to resume 2X-weekly Aktau-Yerevan, Armenia, service from Dec. 16, complementing its existing international network from Aktau, which includes Baku, Batumi, Dubai, Kutaisi and Urumqi.

Hong Kong Airlines has inaugurated a 2X-weekly Hong Kong-Urumqi service, adding a new nonstop link between Hong Kong and northwest China. Operated using Airbus A330 aircraft, the route is designed to strengthen connectivity with Xinjiang while providing onward connections via Hong Kong to destinations across Southeast Asia, Australia and North America. The airline says passengers arriving in Urumqi can connect to cities across Xinjiang, including Kashgar, Yining and Altay, supporting its expansion in northwest China and along Belt and Road markets.
