Supply chain and logistics solutions specialist Farsound Aviation has confirmed plans to open a new engine component warehouse close to Madrid-Barajas Airport by the end of 2022.

UK-headquartered Farsound’s new warehouse and operational facilities will be in San Fernando de Henares, a town in the province of Madrid.

From that location, it will supply and maintain components for aero engines for the aircraft fleet of Spanish carrier Iberia to its MRO division Iberia Maintenance.

Farsound cited the proximity to Iberia’s operational airport base among the main benefits of the newly built facility. It will also enable additional space, people and resources with a long-term aim to service new customers across Europe in the future.

“Being nearer to Iberia maintenance, means our dedicated team can work more closely with them,” says Lee Kelsey, Farsound’s group sales director. “We can provide the exact type and scope of aero engine parts, supply chain logistics and MRO services Iberia requires, exactly when they need it.”

Establishing a new facility in Madrid is the latest stage of Farsound’s global expansion plan. Two years ago, it grew its main base by purchasing a new building adjacent to its UK headquarters in Romford, Essex.

It also setup a base in the Americas in Q4 2021 through leasing a facility around 20,000 ft.2 in Toronto, Canada.
