FCAH Aerospace, FEAM Partner At CVG
FCAH Aerospace subsidiary Cobalt Aero Services has expanded its operations at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport (CVG) through a strategic partnership with FEAM Aero. It will be co-locating its airframe structures repair expertise within FEAM’s recently expanded hangar there, including on-site and on-aircraft composite repair support and aircraft accessories repair.
StandardAero Expanding Augusta Business Aviation MRO Facility
StandardAero is building an 80,500 ft.² hangar expansion at its business aviation MRO facility at Augusta Regional Airport, which it says will increase its footprint there by more than 60%. The new facility, which is expected to be completed in 2025, will enable StandardAero to support super mid-size to large cabin aircraft and expand its engine shop.

FTAI Aviation Lands LATAM Engine Agreement
LATAM Airlines has signed a perpetual power agreement with FTAI Aviation, through which FTAI will provide engine maintenance, repair and exchange services for CFM International CFM56 and IAE V2500 engines. It says the program is designed to provide cost savings and flexibility by avoiding shop visits through engine exchanges.
Artemis Aerospace Opens Singapore Hub
Component solutions provider Artemis Aerospace has opened a hub in Singapore. The UK-headquartered company opened two new hubs in the U.S. earlier this year in Miami and Los Angeles. It says the new hubs will streamline orders and deliveries for customers in both regions.

Gulf Air Starts Future Workforce Training Partnership
Gulf Air and BAS Aircraft Engineering Training Center (BAETC) have signed an agreement to partner on enhancing aircraft maintenance training in Bahrain. Under the agreement, Gulf Air’s technical affairs division will work with students on maintenance activities to give them experience required to complete the European Union Aviation Safety Agency’s Part 66 license.
Sanad Grows Khalifa University Partnership
Sanad has signed an agreement with Abu Dhabi-based Khalifa University to grow future workforce collaboration. Sanad will offer local and international hands-on training opportunities for students, as well as provide lectures for students at Khalifa University. Sanad has been working with the university since 2010, including exploring technologies for the MRO sector.

HAECO Extends China Airlines 777 Support
China Airlines has extended its partnership with HAECO covering inventory technical management and landing gear services. Under the new agreement, HAECO will provide services such as component pooling, component repair management, component reliability management, AOG support and provision of onsite consignment stock in Taipei for the airline’s Boeing 777 fleet until 2032.

KMC Announces Moroccan P2F Joint Venture
Kansas Modification Center (KMC), Stratos Industries and Integrated Aerospace Alliance have partnered to construct a Boeing 777-300ER passenger-to-freighter production facility at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca, Morocco. KMC says construction of the three widebody hangars will increase its passenger-to-freighter (P2F) production output by up to eight additional aircraft per year.

AAR Expands V2500 Component Distribution Deal
AAR has signed an extension and expansion of its IAE V2500 engine component distribution agreement with Sumitomo Precision Products, under which it will distribute the engine’s pneumatic starter and control valve for the life of the program. The agreement also expands AAR’s exclusive distributorship with the addition of all V2500 starter/valve subcomponents.
C&L Acquires Saab 340B Inventory From JAL Subsidiaries
C&L Aerospace has acquired an inventory of Saab 340B parts from Japan Air Commuter and Hokkaido Air System, including more than 4,500 rotable and consumable parts. The inventory will be held at C&L’s facility in Bangor, Maine and available for outright purchase.

AAR Begins Oklahoma City Expansion
AAR has broken ground on an expansion of its Oklahoma City MRO facility, which will support its recently expanded maintenance commitment from Alaska Airlines. Expected to be operational in January 2026, the new facility will provide an additional 80,000 ft.² of hangar and warehouse space to accommodate all Boeing 737 variants.
GlobalX Chooses Skywise Health Monitoring
Passenger and cargo charter airline Global Crossing Airlines (GlobalX) has chosen Airbus’ Skywise Health Monitoring tool for its current and future fleet of Airbus A320-family aircraft. First CFM56-7B Shop Visit
StandardAero's facility at Dallas Ft. Worth International Airport performed its first CFM56-7B engine shop visit. The shop, which opened last year, provides a range of shorter workscopes, such as borescope inspections, engine module changes an boroblend repairs, as well as full test cell capability. It expects to add more capabilities over the coming year.

C&L Aerospace has purchased what it says is a significant inventory of ATR parts valued at $20 million. The lot, which includes rotables, expendables and piece parts, will be stocked at its global warehouses for sale or exchange.
AAR Breaks Ground On Miami Expansion
AAR has broken ground on its new Miami MRO facility, which will increase its airframe MRO capacity by 33%. The three-bay facility will be dedicated to support its narrowbody maintenance work for United Airlines, and it is expected to be operational in October 2025.

LATAM Plans MRO Staff Growth
LATAM has announced plans to hire around 140 maintenance employees in Brazil by July, including around 90 aircraft maintenance technicians and 50 aeronautical mechanics. The additional staff will be added in response to LATAM’s predicted growth of its domestic operation in Brazil by 7-9% this year.

Azul TecOps has received European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) approval for maintenance on European Union-registered aircraft. Azul says the approval occurred within the bilateral agreement signed between EASA and Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) to simplify procedures for approval of maintenance organizations.

ARSA Releases 2024 MRO Workforce Data
The Aeronautical Repair Station Association (ARSA) has released statistics showing that employment in the U.S. civil aviation maintenance industry is up nearly 3.5% in early 2024 compared to early 2023, with nearly 329,000 workers. Part 145 repair stations account for 56% of the workforce, followed by air carriers at 23% and parts manufacturing and distribution companies at 21%.

American Airlines has announced it plans to retrofit its Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft beginning in 2025. The project will include adding interior power at every seat, larger overhead bins and new seats with updated trim and finish.
Global Component Asia Opts For DHL’s SAF Program
Malaysia-based MRO provider Global Component Asia has joined DHL Express’ GoGreen Plus program as part of its commitment to 30% reduction in carbon emissions using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) for its time-definite international shipments. GoGreenPlus was launched in 2023 and allows customers to contribute toward funding SAF through a book-and-claim methodology, which can be credited for Scope 3 emission reporting.

MESA Gets New Base Maintenance Approvals
The National Authority of Civil Aviation of Portugal (ANAC) has certified Portuguese maintenance provider MESA to perform an enhanced scope of base maintenance on Airbus A330 aircraft equipped with Pratt & Whitney PW4000 engines. It has also certified MESA to conduct base maintenance in intervals of up to 48 months on Airbus A340 aircraft.

LHT To Support China Southern A350 APUs
China Southern Airlines and Lufthansa Technik have signed terms on an eight-year agreement related to technical support of the Chinese carrier’s auxiliary power units on its Airbus A350 fleet. Under the terms of the contract, Lufthansa Technik will provide MRO services for the Honeywell HGT1700 APU from its specialized workshops in Hamburg. Avianca Migrates MRO Software To The Cloud
Colombian airline Avianca has completed the migration of Swiss-AS’s AMOS maintenance software from an on-premesis set up to a cloud-based solution. The carrier transitioned to AMOScloud, a Google Cloud hosted platform. Avianca says the move was driven by a need for better scalability, cost-effectiveness, and operational agility. Transavia Picks Satair For Airbus Supply Chain Support
Satair has signed an agreement with Transavia for the Dutch low-cost carrier to use its integrated material services (IMS) solution. The multi-year IMS partnership is the first strategic collaboration between Satair and Transavia and covers its upcoming Airbus A321neo aircraft scheduled to enter its fleet later this year. Aviatic MRO has opened a new aircraft maintenance facility at Siauliai International Airport in Lithuania. The four-bay hangar facility will provide line and base maintenance services for Airbus A320, A330 and Boeing 737 aircraft. Aviatic MRO plans to hire around 1,000 technicians to work at the facility.
Ryanair Confirms Joramco Agreement
Ryanair has confirmed a five-year heavy maintenance agreement with Joramco, through which it will utilize up to six heavy maintenance lines at the Jordanian MRO provider’s facility in Amman. Joramco plans to conduct 41 checks for the airline during the upcoming winter season.

Collins Opens Expanded Additive Center In Iowa
Collins Aerospace has opened a new $14 million expansion to its additive manufacturing center in West Des Moines, Iowa. The facility will be used for additive production of engine components for commercial and military aircraft. Croatia Airlines has signed EngineWise maintenance agreements with Pratt & Whitney for the GTF engines that will power its fleet of 15 Airbus A220-100 and A220-300 aircraft. AirBaltic has launched what it says is an improved version of its SkyTech internship program, through which students will gain hands-on experience working alongside its maintenance technicians. SkyWest Licenses GE 360 Foam Wash
SkyWest Airlines has become the first North American operator to license GE Aerospace’s 360 Foam Wash system, which it will use to clean its CF34 engines. ICAO Data Shows Growth In Female AMTs
The International Civil Aviation Organization has released global survey data that shows the percentage of female aircraft maintenance engineers and technicians grew from 2.7% in 2016 to 3% in 2021. Increases were seen in all regions except for the Middle East and Africa, with the highest increases in the Asia-Pacific and Latin American/Caribbean regions. The survey shows Asia-Pacific has the highest percentage of women in these roles, at 4.4%.
AMP Aero Services Acquires Major Parts Inventory
AMP Aero Services has acquired an inventory of more than 88,000 parts. Delta TechOps Signs $225 Million In Q1 Component Contracts
Delta TechOps announced it has signed nine component MRO contracts worth $225 million during the first quarter of 2023. It says the agreements, which run between 3-5 years, cover Airbus and Boeing fleets for customers including cargo carriers and passenger airlines. Ryanair Building Eco-Friendly Hangar
Ryanair plans to construct a new four-bay hangar to expand its aircraft maintenance facility at Dublin Airport. Southwest Airlines has flown the first revenue flight featuring an aircraft with Aero Design Labs’ drag reduction kit installed. VAS Aero Acquires Two Boeing 737-700 Aircraft
VAS Aero Services has acquired two Boeing 737-700 aircraft for teardown and subsequent parts harvesting. The company will disassemble both aircraft at its facility in Marana, Arizona. Work is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2023. The company says that the disassembled USM will be distributed through its airline operators and MRO customer base.

MRO Boosts Triumph’s Q3 Results

Lufthansa Cargo Takes Flight With AeroSHARK

Iberia Maintenance announced plans to appoint Enrique Robledo as its new maintenance director, effective March 17. Robledo has held various maintenance roles at Iberia since 1999, most recently as deputy manager of the engine workshop.
