SES Reaches CFM Engine Milestone

Shannon Engine Support (SES), the world's largest CFM engine lessor, has announced the addition of the 500th CFM-manufactured engine to its portfolio. Shannon, Ireland-based SES provides leasing options on CFM56 and more recently, Leap family engines to the market in addition to operator support worldwide.

Dublin Aerospace Appoints New Base Maintenance Lead

MRO provider Dublin Aerospace has appointed Dominic Ryan as general manager of base maintenance and auxiliary power unit (APU) services. Ryan assumed the new role earlier this month and has worked in the aviation industry for more than four decades across several roles at Irish flag carrier Aer Lingus, where he was most recently the airline's director of maintenance. In his new role at Dublin Aerospace, Ryan will oversee the management of the aircraft maintenance and overhaul process, including APU overhaul and repair, ensuring compliance with regulations and maintaining safety and quality standards.

EASA Renews Egyptair M&E's Part 145 Approval

Egyptair Maintenance & Engineering has successfully renewed its EASA Part 145 approval. Following an audit process, the Cairo-headquartered MRO provider has now entered its 18th consecutive year of compliance with Europe's regulator.

LHT, Uzbekistan Airways Reach Maintenance Milestone

Lufthansa Technik and Uzbekistan Airways recently marked 30 years of maintenance cooperation. Having first partnered on Uzbekistan's first Airbus A310-300 aircraft in 1993, the German MRO continues to provide maintenance services for the flag carrier. These include component maintenance and access to a spare parts pool for Uzbekistan's entire Airbus and Boeing fleet, services for landing gears and engines if required.

Coulson Aviation Gets ANAC Maintenance Certification

Aerial firefighting specialist Coulson Aviation has received certification from Argentina’s Administracion Nacional de Aviacion Civil (ANAC) to perform aircraft maintenance on Argentinian-registered aircraft. Coulson says it is the only Canadian company to receive ANAC certification to perform specialized and non-specialized aircraft maintenance.

New Generation Aerospace Acquires Tri-County Aerospace

New Generation Aerospace, an FAA repair station specialized in aircraft component rewinds and repairs, has acquired Tri-County Aerospace, an FAA repair station specialized in the rewind and repair of generator rotors and stators. Both companies are based in the Miami, Florida area.

Aeroflot Plans Production Of Maintenance Components

Aeroflot and Russia’s Rosatom State Corporation have entered a memorandum of strategic cooperation to develop, test, produce and maintain aviation equipment. Part of the cooperation will include production of components for the maintenance and repair of foreign-made aircraft under Aeroflot’s FAP-21J aircraft developer certificate.

PSA Airlines Technicians Get New Contract

PSA Airlines has ratified a new, four-year collective bargaining agreement with its aviation maintenance technicians represented by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. The new contract includes wage increases and benefits improvements.

Swedish charter airline Frost has chosen Rusada Envision softwre to manage airworthiness and maintenance activities for its fleet of four Saab 2000s.

Flybondi Opens Wheel Workshop

Flybondi has opened a new wheel workshop at Ezeiza International Airport. The airline says it is the first low-cost carrier in Argentina to operate a wheel workshop and notes that the capability will save time and improve the tire changing process.

Choose Aerospace Sees 300% Growth

Choose Aerospace reports that its program to implement aviation maintenance curriculum in high schools as a way to boost future MRO workforce has seen significant growth since its launch in 2020. The program expects to enroll 800 students in the 2023-24 academic year—a 300% increase from the 200 students it enrolled in its inaugural 2022-23 academic year.

Aerocare Expands Capabilities

Aerocare Aviation Services has expanded its capabilities and workshop space in Chester, UK to accommodate cabin refurbishment, component structural repair and manufacturing services. It now holds C ratings covering interiors, structures, doors and hatches and flying controls, and Part 21 subpart G approval for production of components and systems.

Kellstrom Aerospace announced that it has significantly expanded its used serviceable material inventory through several recent investments and partnerships. It notes that it is disassembling a variety of Airbus A321, Boeing 737NG, CF6-80C2, and CFM56-7B and -5B aircraft and engine assets to boost inventory.

GMF AeroAsia Signs Maintenance MOUs

GMF AeroAsia has signed two memoranda of understanding (MOU) related to innovation in MRO. The first MOU with Thales focuses on developing innovations in aircraft maintenance and promoting industry growth in Indonesia. The second MOU with Sovico Group covers training for technicians and engineers and for the Boeing 737 MAX, as well as collaboration in hangar management, aircraft repair and maintenance.

Satys Plans Dubai Paint Hangar

Satys Aerospace has signed an agreement with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Aerospace Hub to build a new paint hangar at Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai. The facility, which is planned to begin operation in January 2025, will have capacity to paint around 20 aircraft annually, including single-aisle commercial aircraft and business aviation aircraft.

SIA Engineering Company Limited (SIAEC) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Xiamen Iport Group to explore MRO opportunities in Fujian, China.

IFS Plans Acquisition Of AI Specialist

IFS, which provides a variety of cloud-based software products for the MRO industry, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Falkonry, an industrial artificial intelligence (AI) software provider. It plans to add Falkonry’s AI technology to its existing enterprise simulation and AI-based scheduling and optimization capabilities.

TMSaero Gets Component Certification

TMSaero has obtained its FAA Part 145 component repair station certification. The Boca Raton, Florida-based MRO provider will now be able to offer services such as engine borescope inspection, quick engine change installation and removal, top case repairs and lease return inspections.

MRO Software Market Growth

Market research firm Fortune Business Insights projects that the global aviation MRO software market will see a compound annual growth rate of 5.45% between 2023-30. It reports that the market has grown from just over $7 billion in 2022 to a projected $7.32 billion this year, and it expects this to grow to $10.61 billion by 2030.

OEMServices Signs Aircraft Battery Logistics MOU

OEMServices has signed a memorandum of understanding with aerospace industry battery startup Limatech to store, dispatch and provide AOG support for the company’s Orion 24V15Ah batteries. Limatech plans for the new battery type to be installed on ATR, Bombardier CRJ, Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 platforms as a retrofit option for replacing nickel cadmium batteries.

Barnes Aerospace has completed its acquisition of MB Aerospace, an aero-engine component manufacturing and repair specialist. The purchase price for the acquisition, which was first announced in June, was $740 million.

TAP Renegotiates Rolls-Royce TotalCare Agreement

TAP Air Portugal announced in its second quarter and half year results that it had renegotiated its TotalCare Agreement with Rolls-Royce covering its Trent 7000 engines as part of efforts to reduce cost and improve operational efficiency. It says the initial contract, signed in 2018, “provided insufficient operational and maintenance coverage.”

TAT Technologies Ramps Up MRO Orders

TAT Technologies reported in its second quarter 2023 results that it is seeing an increase in OEM purchase orders and MRO intake. CEO Igal Zamir says TAT has a “strong order backlog” and is preparing to implement a “second wave” of landing gear contracts with two strategic customers.

Transavia Picks Satair For Airbus Supply Chain Support

Satair has signed an agreement with Transavia for the Dutch low-cost carrier to use its integrated material services (IMS) solution. The multi-year IMS partnership is the first strategic collaboration between Satair and Transavia and covers its upcoming Airbus A321neo aircraft scheduled to enter its fleet later this year. The contract will cover Transavia's requirements for expendable materials for line and base maintenance operations.

AAR, Moog Sign Commercial Agreements

AAR Corp. has signed two multi-year commercial agreements with Moog. Under the first, AAR will distribute Moog products applicable to mature aircraft platforms. Under the second, Moog will provide support to AAR’s component repair facilities related to manufactured piece parts and repair capability, and it will also receive components from AAR.

MGT Group has announced it is now an authorized distributor for JPR Hutchinson, a manufacturer of fabricated seals for the aerospace industry.

Aviatic MRO Opens New MRO Lithuanian Facility

Aviatic MRO has opened a new aircraft maintenance facility at Siauliai International Airport in Lithuania. The four-bay hangar facility will provide line and base maintenance services for Airbus A320, A330 and Boeing 737 aircraft. Aviatic MRO plans to hire around 1,000 technicians to work at the facility.

Ryanair Confirms Joramco Agreement

Ryanair has confirmed a five-year heavy maintenance agreement with Joramco, through which it will utilize up to six heavy maintenance lines at the Jordanian MRO provider’s facility in Amman. Joramco plans to conduct 41 checks for the airline during the upcoming winter season.

United TechOps Chooses AireXpert Platform

United Technical Operations has selected the AireXpert platform to increase its efficiency in executing, administering and reporting maintenance activities. AireXpert says the platform is currently being rolled out at United and that it is also doing some customization work for the MRO provider.

Resource Group Launches Digital Part 66 Self-Study Courses

European Part 147 training provider Resource Group has invested £2.5 million ($3.14 million) in creating digital, self-study courseware for A1, A3, B1.1, B1.3 and B2 licenses that will allow people to work toward a Part 66 license in their own time. It says the courses will make aviation maintenance training more accessible and help alleviate the industry’s MRO workforce shortage.

AJW Technique Adds New ADIRU Testing Capability

AJW Technique has purchased an ATEC Series 6 test station and tumble table, enabling it to add testing capabilities for Honeywell’s Airbus A320 air data inertial reference units (ADIRU).

TEI Wins F110 MRO Service Agreement Extension

GE Aerospace has extended TUSAS Engine Industries’ (TEI) license to conduct F110 depot level maintenance services for several countries that operate F-16 and F-15 fighter aircraft. GE says the agreement will allow international F110 operators to have enhanced support and services. TEI is a joint venture between GE, Turkish Aerospace Industries, the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation and the Turkish Aeronautical Association.

SIAEC Completes Delta A350 Cabin Mods

SIA Engineering Company (SIAEC) announced that it has completed the ninth and final Airbus A350 cabin modification for Delta Air Lines. SIAEC’s base maintenance division has been working on the project since February 2022.

TAT Technologies Wins Boeing 747 Component Repair Contract

TAT Technologies has signed a new contract to repair Boeing 747 thermal components being used by a fleet of a major European cargo carrier. It says it won the $7.5 million contract due to its unique capabilities to service the component under FAA and European Union Aviation Safety Agency certification.

Allegiant Mechanics Get New Ratified Contract

Allegiant has ratified a new contract agreement with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, which represents the airline’s maintenance technicians, stores employees and administrative maintenance staff. The new agreement includes what it says are significant increases in rates and a two-year extension to the amenable date of the current bargaining agreement, Oct. 31, 2028.

FL Technics Indonesia Plans Bali MRO Facility

FL Technics Indonesia has begun development of an MRO hub at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali. The $25 million facility, which will feature a six-bay hangar for narrowbody maintenance as well as production shops and offices, is expected to be completed in a year.

Precision Aviation Group has appointed Jon Clarke as president of MRO services, where he will manage the company’s global repair station operations. Clarke was most recently vice president and general manager of Professional Aircraft Accessories, and he spent more than 30 years in various roles at Delta Tech Ops.

TGIS Aviation Selects Rusada Envision Software

UK-based engine and aircraft consultancy TGIS Aviation has chosen Rusada’s Envision software to support its new line of continuing airworthiness management organization services. It will use Envision’s Fleet Management module, which enables customers to maintain the continuing airworthiness of aircraft through a web-based platform.

AJW, Airblue Renew PBH Agreement

AJW Group has renewed its power-by-the-hour (PBH) agreement with Pakistan-based airline Airblue. The carrier has been a customer of AJW’s since 2005 and with the signing of the new contract, UK-headquartered AJW will continue overseeing support for Airblue’s fleet of 10 Airbus A320 family aircraft and its future order of A320neo narrowbodies.

ATSG Has Record P2F Month

Air Transport Services Group (ATSG) announced that its subsidiary Cargo Aircraft Management has delivered a record six converted freighters under lease in the past month. In ATSG’s recent second quarter results, president and CEO Rich Corrado said the company expects to fulfill its plan to lease 19 newly converted freighters this year.

Eve Air Mobility has signed a memorandum of understanding with DHL Supply Chain to study key demands and supply chain characteristics for its advanced air mobility operations. The study will include distribution of parts and materials required for repairs and maintenance, as well as battery logistics and vertiport supplies.

Embraer Names New Services VP

Embraer has announced Carlos Naufel as its new vice president of services and support, effective Sep. 1, 2023. Naufel is currently technical director of Brazilian airline Azul Linhas Aéreas. He will replace Johann Bordais, who last month was named as CEO of Eve Air Mobility.

SIA Engineering Company Limited (SIAEC) has acquired 49% of the share capital of Pos Aviation Engineering Services (PAES), an independent aircraft maintenance and engineering company based in Malaysia. PAES parent company Pos Aviation holds the remaining 51% of its share capital.

American Airlines Battles Record Heat

American Airlines CEO Robert Isom said during a second quarter earnings call that record-breaking heat has required “a heck of a lot more work” being put into factors such as preventative maintenance for APUs, cooling readiness on jet bridges and aircraft, and protecting team members out on the ramp.

JAT Tehnika says it has completed the first passenger-to-cargo conversion of a Boeing 767-300 in Europe at its facility in Belgrade. The conversion was part of its cooperation with Israel Aerospace Industries to begin performing 767-200 and -300 conversions.

Hungarian maintenance specialist Aeroplex has extended its line maintenance agreement with Wizz Air to continue provide line maintenance services in Budapest and Debrecen for another two years. Aeroplex will also provide parts logistics support for the carrier’s entire fleet until 2026.

Heico Completes Wencor Acquisition

Heico has completed its acquisition of Wencor Group for $1.9 billion in cash and $150 million in Heico Class A Common Stock. Wencor is now part of Heico’s Flight Support Group.

LHT Boosts USM, Engine Capabilities

Lufthansa Technik reported that it has more than doubled its procurement of used serviceable materials since pre-COVID as part of efforts to safeguard future business. It has also added capability to process Leap-1B engines at its Hamburg site.

Aftermarket Services Drive Rolls-Royce Profits

Rolls-Royce reported that its services revenue was up 30% due to increased large engine shop visits and higher time and materials revenues. It says operating profit increased 12.4% compared to the prior period due to higher aftermarket activity.

EirTrade Aviation has purchased tooling to begin offering CFM56-3 engine teardown capabilities at its new facility in Dublin. It expects demand for disassembly of the engine type to grow in the coming years as Boeing 737 Classic freighters are retired and replaced with 737NG BCFs.

Surcar Airlines Plans Hydrogen-Electric Retrofits

Newly-launched Canary Islands carrier Surcar Airlines has signed an agreement with ZeroAvia to retrofit Twin Otter seaplanes with the hydrogen-electric propulsion specialist’s ZA600 powertrain for sightseeing tours.

AELS Acquires Boeing 737-800 For Teardown

Aircraft End-of-Life Solutions (AELS) has acquired a Boeing 737-800 aircraft for teardown. AELS will disassemble the aircraft at its facility at Twente Airport in Enschede, Netherlands. Disassembled parts including landing gear, auxiliary power unit, wheels and brakes will be added to the company’s inventory.

LHT, Kenya Airways Sign Component MRO Agreement

Lufthansa Technik (LHT) has signed an agreement with Kenya Airways to provide total component support for the carrier’s nine Boeing 787-8 aircraft until 2028. The agreement consists of LHT supplying maintenance services and components, as well as aircraft on ground support, parts pooling and logistics services.

LATAM Airlines Brasil To hire 300 Mechanics

LATAM Airlines Brasil is set to hire 300 mechanics by the end of this year, in anticipation of an expected growth in operations. The carrier is seeking line maintenance staff to work at 25 airports in Brazil and its Sao Paulo MRO facility. It says that more than 90 positions will be available at Sao Paulo Guarulhos International Airport.

Collins Opens Expanded Additive Center In Iowa

Collins Aerospace has opened a new $14 million expansion to its additive manufacturing center in West Des Moines, Iowa. The facility will be used for additive production of engine components for commercial and military aircraft. Collins says the facility is one of only eight in the U.S. to receive the National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program certification for additive manufacturing.

Bangladeshi Carrier Signs ATR MRO Agreement

US-Bangla Airlines has signed a global maintenance agreement with turboprop manufacturer ATR. The agreement, according to ATR, will further optimize the airline’s maintenance costs and boost the reliability of its fleet of eight ATR 72-600 aircraft. The five-year pay-by-the hour contract covers repair, overhaul and pooling services related to line replaceable units, along with the availability and maintenance of propellers and leading edges.

Magnetic MRO Completes 800th C Check

Estonian maintenance provider Magnetic MRO has completed its 800th C check. The company recently completed the check on a Scandinavian Airlines-operated Airbus A319 aircraft. The task was completed just one and a half years after Magnetic MRO carried out its 700th C check.

AirBaltic has launched what it says is an improved version of its SkyTech internship program, through which students will gain hands-on experience working alongside its maintenance technicians. SkyWest Licenses GE 360 Foam Wash

SkyWest Airlines has become the first North American operator to license GE Aerospace’s 360 Foam Wash system, which it will use to clean its CF34 engines. GE says the airline is its largest operator of CF34 engines. It also estimates the system could help SkyWest reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 13,900 metric tons per year.

Latin American carrier Boliviana de Aviacion has signed an Airbus Flight Hour Services agreement for maintenance-by-the-hour support of its leased A330-200 fleet. The contract covers repair and integrated component services, including an on-site stock pool at Viru Viru International Airport in Bolivia.

MYAirline Signs Honeywell APU Contract

Honeywell has secured a maintenance contract with Malaysian low-cost carrier MYAirline for the 131-9A auxiliary power units (APU) on its fleet of Airbus A320s. Under the five-year, non-exclusive maintenance contract it will provide services for the APUs on MYAirline’s entire A320 fleet, which is expected to grow from 22 to 55 aircraft over the next three years.

TransDigm Acquires Calspan

TransDigm has completed its acquisition of Calspan, an independent provider of testing and technology development services and systems for the aerospace and defense industry. Headquartered in Buffalo, New York with facilities across the U.S., Calspan’s transonic wind tunnel in Buffalo is used in aftermarket-focused development activities for commercial and defense aerospace markets.

Avia Solutions Group Sets Up Dublin Headquarters

Avia Solutions Group has moved its global headquarters to Dublin, a move which it says will make it the second-largest Irish-registered aviation business behind Ryanair. CEO Jonas Janukenas says the move to be closer to Ireland’s aviation community “is a strategically important step for us in terms of our further development plans.”

Lufthansa Technik Signs JetSMART Contract

Lufthansa Technik has signed a five-year contract with Chilean carrier JetSMART for continuing airworthiness management organization support and aircraft engineering services. It has already begun on-site support for the airline in Santiago, with the collaboration initially covering 25 Airbus A320 family aircraft.

ICAO Data Shows Growth In Female AMTs

The International Civil Aviation Organization has released global survey data that shows the percentage of female aircraft maintenance engineers and technicians grew from 2.7% in 2016 to 3% in 2021. Increases were seen in all regions except for the Middle East and Africa, with the highest increases in the Asia-Pacific and Latin American/Caribbean regions. The survey shows Asia-Pacific has the highest percentage of women in these roles, at 4.4%.

AMP Aero Services Acquires Major Parts Inventory

AMP Aero Services has acquired an inventory of more than 88,000 parts. It says the lots include aircraft engine material for CFM International CFM56 and CF6-80C2, and Pratt & Whitney PW4000 and V2500 engines, as well as Boeing and Airbus airframe parts. It says the inventory will be positioned in Miami and Arkansas and available for purchase in the next 30-45 days.

Delta TechOps Signs $225 Million In Q1 Component Contracts

Delta TechOps announced it has signed nine component MRO contracts worth $225 million during the first quarter of 2023. It says the agreements, which run between 3-5 years, cover Airbus and Boeing fleets for customers including cargo carriers and passenger airlines. The MRO programs will cover parts ranging from avionics, mechanical, fuel and hydraulic components.

CTS Engines Plans New Headquarters

Independent MRO provider CTS Engines is planning to open a new headquarters in Coral Springs, Florida. Ryanair Building Eco-Friendly Hangar

Ryanair plans to construct a new four-bay hangar to expand its aircraft maintenance facility at Dublin Airport. It says the hangar will be "one of the most environmentally friendly hangars in the EU" and will create more than 200 new jobs for engineers and mechanics. Construction will begin in the fourth quarter of 2023, with expected operations beginning in the second quarter of 2025.

Korean MRO Sharp Technics K has signed an agreement with Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) to establish a new passenger-to-freighter conversion facility at Incheon International Airport for Boeing 777-ERSF aircraft. Under the agreement, IAI plans to begin converting aircraft in 2024.

SR Technics, Safran Developing New Engine Test Cell In Zurich

SR Technics has begun construction work for reactivation of its second test cell at Zurich Airport in partnership with Safran Test Cells. The test cell has been designed to meet testing requirements for new engine types, such as the PW1100G-JM, CFM Leap-1A and -1B, and CFM 56-5B and -7B. The companies expect the test cell to be ready for entry-into-service by mid-2024.

AerSale Plans New Tennessee MRO Facility

Collins Aerospace has launched its Powered by Collins Initiative, which seeks to collaborate with deep technology firms on advanced technologies that could be used to create new products and services for the aerospace industry. It is initially seeking technologies applicable to four areas: extravehicular space mobility, high-performance batteries, autonomy for small unmanned aerial vehicles and composites recycling. Applications for the program close on May 19th.

STS Gains UK Part 21J Approval

STS Aviation Services has been granted Part 21J approval by the UK Civil Aviation Authority. It says the approval complements its aircraft maintenance and modification capabilities, and will be a first step toward adding supplemental type certificate and Part 21G production organizations approvals to its capabilities in the near future.

Southwest Airlines Tests Drag Reduction Retrofits

Southwest Airlines has flown the first revenue flight featuring an aircraft with Aero Design Labs’ drag reduction kit installed. The Boeing 737-700 was one of five aircraft Southwest is using to run a network evaluation of the drag kits, which are aimed at reducing fuel burn rate and carbon emissions.

VAS Acquiring More A320-Family Teardowns

VAS Aero Services will acquire two additional Airbus A320-family aircraft for teardown from Avolon Aerospace Leasing. The A319-100 and A320-100 will be disassembled in Hondo, Texas, with used serviceable materials being distributed through VAS Aero Services’ airline operator customer base.

GA Telesis Sees Landing Gear Boom

GA Telesis has reported significant growth in demand for landing gear services. Its MRO Services Component Repair Group overhauled more than 100 landing gear legs in 2022 and GA Telesis says revenue for its landing gear business has grown 149% since the service was introduced in 2019, comprising 20% of total revenue for its MRO Services group.

New C&L Aviation Services Director Of Maintenance

C&L Aviation Services has appointed Michael Jackson as director of maintenance, where he will oversee all repair station activities. Jackson comes to C&L from American Airlines, where he worked for three decades, most recently serving as senior manager of technical operations.

Precision Aviation Group (PAG) has acquired PTB Group, a provider of MRO and supply chain services with locations in the U.S. and Australia through subsidiaries Pacific Turbine USA Group, Pacific Turbine Brisbane, Pacific Turbine Leasing and International Air Parts. PAG says the acquisition expands is engine services and supply chain capabilities.

New IAMA Chairman of the Executive Board

The Independent Aircraft Modifier Alliance (IAMA) has elected Frans van de Pol as chairman of the executive board. He joined IAMA’s board in 2021, and also leads Fokker Services’ engineering business unit. Van de Pol will replace outgoing chair Marc Pinault, who stepped down on March 7.

Storm Aviation Gets Calibration Accreditation

Storm Aviation has been approved by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), which assesses companies against national and international standards related to conformity assessment for calibration services. It says the accreditation boosts trust that its tools and equipment “are being calibrated to the highest level.”

MTU Maintenance has received new approvals at its facilities in Australia and Brazil. MTU Maintenance Service Centre Australia has gained Part 145 approval from Australia’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority for CF34-series engines. MTU Maintenance do Brasil in Sao Paulo has gained FAA approval for the CFM56 engine family.

Ecube’s U.S. Facility Begins First Teardown

Ecube has begun its first teardown project at its new U.S. facility in Coolidge, Arizona. It is tearing down an Airbus A319 for inaugural customer Killick Aerospace. Ecube’s U.S. facility has welcomed more than 10 aircraft since it opened in October 2022.

New MAAS Aviation CEO

Emirates has signed two major MRO contracts with Lufthansa Technik (LHT) for services on its Airbus A380 aircraft. Under the deals, LHT will overhaul main landing gears and provide base maintenance. The latter agreement is Emirates’ first time outsourcing heavy checks for A380s.

Joramco C Check Agreements

Joramco has signed an agreement with Air Europa to perform C checks on four Boeing 787 aircraft. It has also signed its first agreement with Cebu Pacific, under which it will perform C checks on its Airbus A330 aircraft starting this month.

VAS Aero Acquires Two Boeing 737-700 Aircraft

VAS Aero Services has acquired two Boeing 737-700 aircraft for teardown and subsequent parts harvesting. The company will disassemble both aircraft at its facility in Marana, Arizona. Work is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2023. The company says that the disassembled USM will be distributed through its airline operators and MRO customer base.

Lufthansa Cargo Takes Flight With AeroSHARK

The first Lufthansa Cargo Boeing 777F featuring AeroSHARK fuel-saving surface technology entered scheduled service on Feb. 3. According to Lufthansa Technik, which developed AeroSHARK with coatings specialist BASF, Lufthansa Cargo’s entire 777 freighter fleet will gradually receive modifications to incorporate the technology.

New Iberia Maintenance Director

Iberia Maintenance announced plans to appoint Enrique Robledo as its new maintenance director, effective March 17. Robledo has held various maintenance roles at Iberia since 1999, most recently as deputy manager of the engine workshop. He will replace Andy Best, who will become maintenance director at British Airways.
