Volga-Dnepr Technics Gets EASA Approval for B777 Training
Volga-Dnepr Technics Moscow Aviation Training Centre has received EASA approval to provide Boeing 777-200/300 (GE 90) aircraft type training. It says it is ready to arrange training courses for airlines and MRO providers both at its training center or at a customers’ base. Over the past three months, Volga-Dnepr Technics says it has been able to quickly convert any courses into online format in response to COVID-19 restrictions.
FL Technics Updates Certifications
FL Technics has announced that is has been certified to provide line maintenance services to Boeing 777 aircraft. Its design organization authorization approval has also been renewed by the UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority.
Charter Start-up Secures Spirit Airlines for MRO Services
Charter start-up Global X says it has secured Spirit Airlines for MRO services at MIA and other airports throughout the U.S. Global X says it intends to secure aircraft contracts for 15-20 Airbus A320s through the end of 2022, which Spirit Airlines has MRO experience with through its operation of the aircraft type.
Duncan Aviation Launches Powerplant Apprenticeship Program
Duncan Aviation will launch its new Powerplant Apprenticeship program this month, following its launch last year of an Airframe Apprenticeship program. The MRO says the programs, which are being offered to full-time Duncan Aviation team members, will prepare apprentices for their Airframe & Powerplant certificate examinations through a combination of classroom training, hands-on lab work, supplemental course materials and on-the-job experience.
GA Telesis Appoints New Engine Strategy VP
GA Telesis has appointed Russell Shelton as president of its Engine Strategy Group, where he will oversee its long-term engine MRO strategy, Turbine Vision 2020. Shelton most recently served as managing director of services sales at GE Aviation.
NAAI Appoints New MRO BizDev Manager
Aircraft recycling specialist North American Aerospace Industries Corporation (NAAI) has appointed Martin O’Boyle as business development manager for MRO. O’Boyle, who previously served as head of civil aviation business development for Sabena Aerospace, will be responsible for developing NAAI’s MRO business in North America.
Lease Revenue Up and Down
Willis Lease Finance reported long-term maintenance reserve revenue, which is impacted by end of lease payments, increased to $27.2 million for the second quarter, compared to $6.7 million in the same period last year. Short-term maintenance reserve revenue, which is influenced by asset usage, was only $2.8 million for the period, compared to $19.8 million in the second period of 2019.
737 Conversion in Xiamen
Aeronautical Engineers appointed Taikoo (Xiamen) Aircraft Engineering Co., HAECO Xiamen, as an authorized passenger to freighter conversion center for its Boeing 737-800SF. The first line of mods will start in January 2021 with a second line to be added in April.
Great Dane Airlines Signs AerFin Component Contract
Great Dane Airlines has signed a long-term BeyondPool Flight-Hour Agreement with AerFin to support its fleet of three Embraer E195 E-Jet aircraft. The agreement covers repair, overhaul, pooling and on-site provisioning of E-Jet rotable component inventory and will be supported out of the airline’s main hub in Aalborg, Denmark, as well as AerFin’s stock in Hanoi, Vietnam.
Satair Introduces Robotic System at Logistics Center
Satair has introduced a new automated storage system called AutoStore at its logistics center in Hamburg, Germany. Satair says AutoStore accommodates three times as many small parts in the past and can handle 500 picks per hour using 40 robots that move along the warehouse. It says the facility can now dispatch 10,000 orders a day, compared to 3,000 previously.
