SR Technics has added further engine repair capacity in Switzerland after commencing operations at its new engine repair shop in Bad Zurzach.

Located about 25 mi. northwest of Zurich, home to SR Technics’ main facilities, the new center will operate as SR Technics Zurzach and focus on quick-turn engine MRO for CFM International CFM56-5B/7B and Pratt & Whitney-manufactured PW4000 engines. Services include high-level engine inspections, repairs, modifications and field assistance services for a worldwide customer base.

SR Technics said that the first engine induction at the new facility is a CFM56-7B operated by Dutch LCC Transavia Airlines. The first induction follows approvals from regulators including the Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation.

“The start of operations in Bad Zurzach, in close proximity to our two test cells in Zurich, reflects our commitment as a full-service provider to our customers,” said Owen McClave, CEO of SR Technics. Pierre Berthelot, general manager of the Zurzach operation, added that the new facility will allow the company to respond immediately to customer needs, while continuing to invest in people, capabilities and infrastructure.

After citing a tightening of capacity at its Zurich headquarters, SR Technics started renovating the Zurzach shop in January 2025, transforming an existing industrial building into a purpose-designed engine maintenance facility. To support the operational ramp-up, SR Technics plans to increase its workforce in Zurzach to around 100 employees.

Bringing Zurzach online is the latest expansion at the company. In September 2024, SR Technics opened its maintenance facility for the Pratt & Whitney geared turbofan (GTF) engine in Zurich, where once fully ramped up, it is targeting at least 1,000 GTF shop visits over the life of a 10-year agreement signed with the OEM.

Around the same time, the maintenance specialist also completed the reconstruction of a reactivated second test cell in the Swiss city, testing CFM International Leap-1A and -1B variants, as well as CFM56-5B and 7B engines.
