FL Technics has launched a new business line by entering the wheels and brakes repair segment and has set up a dedicated facility for the services in Hanover, Germany.

The specialist shop commenced operating on April 4 at Hanover International Airport and will focus on wheels and brakes, as well as aircraft tires and components. It will operate under the FL Technics Wheels and Brakes name.

Lithuania-headquartered FL Technics says the location will be a support hub within its global network of MRO markets, which spans from the Americas to Asia-Pacific and has facilities in Lithuania, Indonesia, China and the UK. This includes more than 70 line maintenance stations.

“The successful start of the wheels and brakes business marks a new era for FL Technics and FL Technics group as we fill in a service area, previously outsourced by our MRO and sales teams,” says Zilvinas Lapinskas, CEO at FL Technics. “The expansion is our next step in strengthening FL Technics' position as a global one-stop-shop service provider of MRO services.”

FL Technics says its long-term strategy is to further grow the business organically as well as through mergers and acquisitions. In recent years, it has made several acquisitions, including Rome-based Flash Line Maintenance and Canadian line maintenance provider Wright International in 2020.

It has also been adding new MRO capabilities this year. Last month, it introduced two new services: line maintenance for Boeing 787 aircraft and borescope inspection services for Pratt & Whitney PW1100G-JM engines.
