AMSTERDAM—Rockwell Collins sees airlines moving away from time and material contracts with new-generation aircraft, such as the Boeing 787, according to Thierry Tosi, the company’s vice president and general manager of service solutions.

The OEM, which suppliers the 787’s flight deck displays system, crew alerting system, communications and surveillance systems, core network cabinet, and more, has secured maintenance contracts for about 50% of the aircraft flying, according to Tosi.

Tosi said that number compares to around 10% on other platforms, and credits it to an integrated-services plan to offer customer service centers around the world that are stocked with parts, and solid customer service that is garnering awards for Boeing, Airbus and Bombardier.

He said Rockwell is considering Dispatch 100 asset management services for other new platforms such as the Airbus A350, 737 MAX, 777X and Bombardier C Series.

At Aviation Week’s MRO Europe conference, Rockwell Collins announced it had signed a repair agreement with Airbus SAS to provide component support for five A300-600ST Belugas. Some of the systems covered include Rockwell Collins communication systems, HF radio, and Link 2000+-capable datalink, radio navigation and surveillance systems.
