DUBAI—UAE-based defense conglomerate Edge Group will unveil a family of long-range, stealthy cruise missiles with a loitering capability at the Dubai Airshow on Nov. 17.
The satellite-guided Fast Responder series debuts in three variants sized at 125 kg (275 lb.), 250 kg and 620 kg, according to a product brochure obtained by Aviation Week. The 620-kg Fast Responder 200, featuring a 200 kg. payload is highlighted on Edge Group's large exhibit stand.
“Featuring low observability, low cost and a 270 km range, this munition puts an effective precision weapon in the hands of operators and planners,” the Edge brochure says, noting the munition comes from the company’s Advanced Concepts division.
The Fast Responder munition is powered by an undisclosed turbofan engine, which is likely sourced from the Edge Group’s Power Tech subsidiary. Its cruise speed is limited to about Mach 0.5 to extend loitering time.
The missile family adds to Edge Group’s expanding portfolio of powered and glide munitions, which are produced by the Abu Dhabi-based Halcon subsidiary.
Halcon has previously delivered the larger, faster Saber cruise missile, featuring a 1,200-kg takeoff weight and a Mach 0.8 cruise speed.
The Advanced Concepts division also has showed off previously the Nasef 20, a light, winged cruise missile in the 90-kg weight class with a 20 kg payload and guided by a semi-active laser or optical seeker.
