An Edge Group loitering munition on display at the Dubai Airshow.
DUBAI—Edge Group is mulling a teaming arrangement with Indra to sell the Abu Dhabi-based company’s growing stable of loitering munitions in Europe.
The effort underscores Edge’s bid to expand its export business and build partnerships to sell its equipment abroad after a period during which its industrial agreements centered more on bringing expertise into the United Arab Emirates. It also comes as Indra is looking to expand its defense product offering to cater to rising European defense spending.
The two sides announced the agreement here at the Dubai Airshow to pave the way for a joint venture (JV) to be set up in Spain.
The JV would be responsible for development, manufacturing and support of loitering munitions and smart weapons. The enterprise would try to win business in Spain and other European countries, as well as a number of markets the partners did not identify.
Edge Managing Director Hamad Al Marar called the JV “a strategic pathway for expanding our presence across European markets through joint innovation and advanced manufacturing.”
The two parties signed a second agreement to possibly expand their Pulse Nova JV—which focuses on radars—to also work on electronic warfare systems.
