PARIS—Safran and Edge Group said they have agreed to a joint venture to work on the French manufacturer’s Hammer precision weapon.
The agreement should see the companies work on extended-range precision weapons based on the Hammer, the pair said at the Eurosatory arms expo. The companies also pledged to partner around supersonic air-to-ground weapons and a next-generation air-launched system for uncrewed aircraft systems, they said.
To support those efforts, the companies are planning to establish two joint ventures: one in France and one in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The move comes days after Edge said it was setting up a technology center in Paris reflecting the country’s aerospace technical knowhow and the close strategic ties between the UAE and France.
The two firms said they may also work together in areas such as subsystems, anti-tank solutions and munitions.
