LCC Norwegian has agreed to acquire 11 spare CFM International Leap-1B engines to maximize the availability and utilization of its Boeing 737 MAX fleet.

“The transaction represents an important step in the long-term fleet strategy of Norwegian, helping to secure the operational resilience of the airline,” Norwegian said, announcing the agreement on June 17.

Deliveries are scheduled in 2027 and 2028, building on two spare Leap-1B engines that Norwegian currently owns.

Norwegian is working to secure long-term financing for the transaction.

In 2024, Norwegian carried 22.6 million passengers and operated 86 Boeing 737-800s and 737 MAX 8s.
