TAIPEI, Taiwan—Singapore Airlines (SIA) has announced it is resurrecting plans to return to Brussels from April 5, 2024, more than 20 years after the route was axed in 2003 due to the SARS outbreak in Asia.

The 4X-weekly service to Brussels-Zaventem Airport will be designated SQ304, and the return as SQ303. Subject to regulatory approval, SIA's outbound flight will operate Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, with the return set to fly Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

The route will be serviced by SIA's Airbus A350-900 aircraft in the long-haul configuration, with 42 business-class, 24 premium-economy and 187 economy seats.

SIA had initially intended to return to the Belgian capital from October 2020, but the plan was scrapped due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The new route—which is set to be the only nonstop flight from Southeast Asia to Brussels—will bring SIA’s European destinations to 13 and Brussel’s Asia-Pacific connections to five.

Dai Hao Yu, SIA acting senior vice president for marketing planning, says "Brussels is an important European economic and political center." The city is home to the headquarters of the European Union, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and the Benelux Union.
