The latest airline route news, featuring network changes, schedule alterations, codeshares and interline agreements.
Sept. 26
IndiGo will open daily flights between Mumbai and Denpasar, the capital of the Indonesia province of Bali. The route will kick off Oct. 18 and be operated with an Airbus A320 aircraft. The route marks IndiGo’s second service to Denpasar. The carrier already flies between Bengaluru and Denpasar. “With the launch of daily flights to Bali from Mumbai, in addition to Bengaluru, IndiGo now connects two major [metropolitan areas] to Bali, an increasingly popular leisure destination,” IndiGo Head of Sales Vinay Malhotra said. Garuda Indonesia previously operated between Mumbai and Denpasar, but dropped the route in March 2019, according to OAG Schedules Analyzer data.
UK leisure carrier Jet2.com will open three new routes from Birmingham Airport (BHX) in England for the 2026 northern hemisphere summer season, including two services to destinations in Greece. The airline will operate 2X-weekly flights between BHL and Thessaloniki from April 3 to Oct. 30, 2026. Additionally, Jet.com will fly between BHX and Meganisi from May 3 to Oct. 30, 2026. The airline will also operate service between BHX and Palermo, Italy, from May 6 to Oct. 21, 2026.
Eurowings will open 2X-weekly service between Dusseldorf, Germany, and Innsbruck Airport (INN) in Austria from Dec. 12. Eurowings already operates 5X-weekly service between INN and Hamburg. INN noted it will be connected to four major European hubs for the 2025-26 winter season. Austrian Airlines will fly between INN and Vienna up to 3X-daily. British Airways will operate 6X-weekly flights between INN and London Heathrow Airport. KLM subsidiary Transavia will operate up to 4X-daily to Amsterdam. Iberia will fly 2X-weekly between INN and Madrid.
Ryanair will launch three new routes from Saarbrucken Airport (SCN) in Germany for the 2026 summer season. The Irish ULCC will fly from SCN to the Italian destinations of Lamezia Terme and Tranpani, which is on the island of Sicily. The carrier will additionally operate service between SCN and Alicante, Spain. All three routes will be flown 2X-weekly from March through October 2026.

Air France and SAS Scandinavian Airlines expanded their codeshare agreement to cover a host of SAS' transatlantic routes. Air France will add its AF code to flights from Copenhagen to 10 U.S. airports: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago O’Hare, Los Angeles, Miami, Newark, New York JFK, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington Dulles. Air France will additionally add its code to SAS flights from Stockholm to Newark and Miami, as well as SAS service from Oslo to Newark and JFK.
Turkish Airlines launched daily service between Istanbul Airport and Seville Airport, which becomes the sixth Spanish destination served by the carrier. Turkish also operates to Spanish cities Barcelona, Bilbao, Madrid, Malaga and Valencia.
British Airways CityFlyer will open service between London City Airport (LCY) and Madrid-Barajas Airport from Dec. 1. The route will be operated 11X-weekly with an Embraer 190 aircraft. LCY CCO Andrew Hodges said the airport is “actively in discussions with both new and existing airlines to broaden our network and unlock more destinations for our passengers.”
Air Canada said its service between Ottawa International Airport and London Heathrow Airport (LHR) will be extended to year-round. The route, which was being operated on a seasonal basis on the carrier’s summer schedule, will now also be flown 3X-weekly through the winter season. Flight frequencies between the Canadian capital and LHR will rise to 4X-weekly for the 2026 summer schedule starting March 28, 2026.

Singapore Airlines (SIA) and Vietnam Airlines signed a codeshare agreement covering flights by both airlines between Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) and cities in Vietnam. SIA will place its SQ code on Vietnam Airlines flights between SIN and Vietnamese destinations Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Vietnam Airlines will place its VN code on SIA services from SIN to Da Nang, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The carriers said in a joint statement that the codeshare flights “will be progressively available for sale from Oct. 10 via both airlines’ sales channels and travel agents.” The airlines said they will also “explore adding other destinations in their network to the codeshare agreement.” Vietnam Airlines Director of Corporate Planning and Development Nguyen Quang Trung said the “collaboration leverages the extensive route networks and premium services of both airlines, enhancing connectivity between Vietnam and Singapore while delivering greater flexibility and a more seamless travel experience for passengers.”
Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) and Maldivian unveiled an interline agreement that will allow AZAL passengers to connect via Male’s Valena International Airport to 17 islands in the Maldives onboard Maldivian flights. The agreement covers Maldivian’s entire domestic network.
Ryanair will open service between Leeds Bradford Airport, in England, and Warsaw from Oct. 27. The route will be operated 2X-weekly.
Turkish Airlines launched flights between Istanbul Airport (IST) and Port Sudan, Sudan. The route will be operated twice this week before increasing to 3X-weekly from Sept. 29. Port Sudan becomes Turkish Airlines’ 63rd destination in Africa. The IST–Port Sudan route will be operated on a seasonal basis through March 31, 2026.

SAS Scandinavian Airlines unveiled nine new routes to be launched for its 2026 summer schedule, including flights between Copenhagen Airport Kastrup (CPH) and Mumbai. The route will start June 2, 2026, and be operated 5X-weekly. Flights to Mumbai are one of seven new services SAS will open from CPH for the 2026 northern hemisphere summer season. Other routes include flights from CPH to Istanbul (daily starting March 26, 2026); Riga (3X-daily starting March 8); Luxembourg (2X-daily starting March 9); French cities Bordeaux (2X-weekly starting May 15) and Marseille (a peak of 2X-weekly starting June 22); and Visby, Sweden (a peak of 3X-weekly starting June 22). The airline will also open 2X-weekly flights between Stockholm and Madrid from March 29, 2026, and 2X-weekly service between Oslo and Hamburg from March 30. SAS said it will increase summer-season seat capacity by 20% in 2026 versus summer 2025.
Air Canada plans to launch three new U.S. transborder routes for the 2026 summer season. The services will operate on a seasonal basis from May through October. The carrier will operate 3X-weekly flights between Toronto Pearson International Airport and San Antonio, Texas. Air Canada will also open two routes to Ohio cities to be flown daily from Montréal-Trudeau International Airport: Cleveland and Columbus.
Korean Air said it has introduced a 1% blend of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) on select flights on two routes between South Korea and Japan. The airline has already used the SAF blend on certain flights between Seoul’s Incheon International Airport (ICN) and Tokyo Haneda Airport, which allowed the carrier to “successfully [verify] the fuel’s safety and performance,” Korean Air said. The carrier will now use the SAF blend on some flights between ICN and Kobe, Japan, and service between Seoul Gimpo Airport and Osaka. Through December 31, 2026, “the program will cover approximately 90 flights on the Kobe route and 26 flights on the Osaka route,” Korean Air said. The SAF, produced from used cooking oil, is sourced from South Korean suppliers HD Hyundai Oilbank and GS Caltex.
