More than 29 million passengers travelled through Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) during the first half of 2025, with traffic up 16.5% year on year and flight movements rising 10.1%.

On a rolling 12-month basis, passenger numbers have reached 57 million, showing strong momentum toward pre-pandemic levels.

The Three-Runway System (3RS), officially opened in November 2024, is already transforming operations. It allows three runways to be used at once, lifting peak-hour capacity, speeding recovery after typhoons and giving airlines greater flexibility to grow.

Cathay Pacific, Hong Kong’s home carrier, remains the backbone of the hub, accounting for nearly half of all departure seats. Its network continues to expand, with new flights to Dallas/Fort Worth and Munich launched in 2025, alongside the resumption of Rome.
