Delta Air Lines will open Austin’s first nonstop route to Paris next spring as part of a wider expansion that will take its operation at the Texas airport to more than 70 peak-day departures.
Daily seasonal flights between Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport will begin March 27, 2027, using an Airbus A330-900neo. Delta will become the only U.S. airline offering nonstop service between Austin and Europe—although three European operators already serve the market.
“Austin’s growth continues to create new opportunities for customers, and Delta is proud to grow alongside it,” Delta’s Chief Commercial Officer Joe Esposito said. “Launching Austin’s first nonstop service to Paris is a defining milestone, but it’s just one part of our broader investment in the region.”
Paris will become Austin’s fourth nonstop European destination. British Airways serves London Heathrow, Lufthansa flies to Frankfurt and Delta joint venture partner KLM operates to Amsterdam. OAG Schedules Analyser data shows airlines are offering approximately 352,000 two-way seats between Austin and Europe during the summer 2026 season, up 9.1% from a year earlier despite the number of flights remaining broadly flat.
The Paris route will broaden the joint venture’s ability to compete for Europe-bound passengers against BA and Lufthansa. Delta and KLM will together operate as many as 10X-weekly flights from Austin to their Paris and Amsterdam hubs during the summer peak.
Beyond local demand, Delta expects the Paris service to draw connecting traffic through Air France’s Charles de Gaulle hub. The airline said customers would have one-stop access to nearly 70 destinations across Europe, India and Africa.
Sabre Market Intelligence data shows that approximately 51,100 two-way passengers traveled between Austin and Paris in 2025. Paris was Austin’s second-largest European city market behind London, which generated about 181,700 passengers, and was larger than the existing nonstop markets of Amsterdam and Frankfurt, at approximately 47,000 and 26,800 passengers, respectively.
The route will also build on Delta’s existing position across the Atlantic. The airline is the largest individual operator in the U.S.-Europe market during summer 2026, according to OAG data, offering approximately 9.75 million two-way seats and accounting for 15% of capacity. Delta has overtaken United Airlines, which holds a 14.8% share, after increasing its own transatlantic capacity by 1.4% despite a 0.6% contraction in the wider market.
On Delta’s July earnings call, Esposito said the carrier was benefiting from a lengthening transatlantic travel season. “The transatlantic will have a great summer,” he said. “The good thing about the transatlantic is it’s smoothing out. The seasonality has been flattening, which is good for us, and people are moving their trips more into the shoulders and the traditional off-season.”
Delta is also continuing to increase its share of the Austin market. OAG data shows the airline is scheduled to offer approximately 1.59 million departure seats from AUS during summer 2026, up 7.6% from 1.48 million a year earlier.
This gives Delta an 18.4% share of AUS capacity, compared with 17.7% in summer 2025. It remains the airport’s second-largest airline behind Southwest Airlines, which holds a 43.7% share. American Airlines ranks third at 14.4%, followed by United Airlines at 12.1%.
The Paris announcement is accompanied by further domestic and short-haul international additions. Delta will launch daily Austin-San Diego flights on April 12, 2027, using A319 aircraft. It will also add a second daily frequency to San Jose, California, on the same date, following the route’s initial launch in October 2026. Elsewhere, Austin-Cancun service will become year-round. By summer 2027, Delta expects to serve approximately 30 destinations from Austin.
