Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) is opening the final section of its new terminal after 12 years of construction, completing a total rebuild of the Delta Air Lines hub.
The airport kicked off the $5.1 billion “New SLC Redevelopment Program” in July 2014 and construction has been ongoing since. Over the course of the program, three terminals were replaced with one central terminal and two linear concourses.
The new terminal has 94 gates and space for 101 concessions. The terminal opened in phases starting in September 2020, when Delta started operations as the sole tenant of Concourse A, which has 25 gates.
The final section of Concourse B, which includes seven new gates, is operational as of Oct. 27. United Airlines will use five of the gates, while two will be common-use.
Nearly 25,000 workers were employed over the course of the redevelopment program, according to SLC.
The previous terminal was built with the intended capacity of 10 million annual passengers. The airport handled 26 million passengers in 2019 even before the first component of the new terminal opened. SLC handled 28 million passengers in 2025.
