Avelo Airlines will begin taking deliveries of its 50 Embraer E195-E2s in 2028, delayed from mid-2027.

A spokesperson for the Houston-headquartered carrier confirmed the shift in deliveries, explaining that “we have not finalized the delivery schedule yet.”

Avelo struck a landmark deal with Embraer in September 2025 as the carrier became the first U.S. operator to order the E2. The airline’s agreement with the Brazilian manufacturer also included purchase rights for 50 additional aircraft.

At the time Avelo placed its E2 order, the company’s CEO Andrew Levy stated he expected an aircraft configuration of 140 seats in a 2 X 2 single-class cabin.

The airline has also undertaken a network restructuring during the last year, retrenching from the West Coast, and aims to streamline its operations around four existing crew bases: Tweed New Haven Airport in Connecticut, Wilmington Airport in Delaware, Concord-Padgett Regional Airport in North Carolina, and Lakeland Linder International Airport in Central Florida. It plans to open a new base at McKinney National Airport near Dallas in late 2026.

Earlier this year, Avelo stated it was cutting six Boeing 737-700s from its fleet, explaining that after the changes it would primarily operate its more efficient 737-800s. The Aviation Week Fleet Discovery database shows Avelo has 12 737-800s and three -700s in operation. The carrier’s inactive aircraft include five stored -700s and two -800s parked/in reserve.
