SINGAPORE—Comac has secured a letter of intent from Shanxi Victory General Aircraft covering three firm orders and three options for the firefighting variant of the C909 regional aircraft, marking the first order for the variant.

The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the Singapore Airshow.

Comac says the C909 firefighting aircraft is capable of carrying up to 10 metric tons (22,000 lb.) of water or fire retardant, while also accommodating up to 19 personnel. The variant received certification from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) in December 2025.

At the airshow Comac is displaying two C909s, one of which configured for medical missions, alongside two C919 narrowbodies.

Separately, the medical C909 has also received approval from the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission to conduct ophthalmology and ear, nose and throat (ENT) procedures. The first medical-configured aircraft has been delivered to Fudan University Hospital.

According to Comac, a typical C909 Medical Service Jet (MSJ) configuration includes an intensive care unit section with two operating beds, as well as seating for up to 24 passengers.
