Regional airframer ATR is completing its preparations for this year’s Farnborough Airshow, although ATR SVP commercial Alexis Vidal told ATW that some larger announcements are anticipated later this year.

“From Asia, we started [2026] quite well,” he said. “Quarter two was, across the world, a bit softer.”

ATR disclosed 12 orders during the first half, including five firmed ATR 72-600 purchase rights for Singapore-based lessor Avation and up to eight ATR 72-600s (four firm, four purchase rights) for Korean startup SUM Air.

SUM Air launched in March 2026 with an ATR 72-600 leased from Avation, and the new ATRs will start being delivered in 2028.

Vidal said ATR’s 2026 orders will be “backloaded” into the second half, and some of the latest orders will not be disclosed at the air show.

“We have quite a lot of work that is ongoing right now,” he said. “I think the stronger news would probably come into September.”

ATR will highlight its HighLine premium cabins at Farnborough. ATR’s first 46-seat all-business class ATR 72-600, with individual seats either side of the aisle, entered service with Malaysian carrier Berjaya Air earlier this year.
