Qatar Airways has introduced its flagship Boeing 777 aircraft for the first time on one of its European routes, operating daily between London Heathrow and its Doha hub.
Emirates introduced an A380 on one of its double-daily Dubai-Manchester services. The airport invested around £10 million ($15.4 million) to upgrade its infrastructure to handle the aircraft.
Yesterday's flight by EK 797 to the Emirates's 105th destination, heralds the creation of the only non-stop scheduled passenger link between Dubai and Senegal. The new route cuts current journey times to Dakar by around eight hours.
