DUBAI—Kazakhstan-based SCAT Airlines is to nearly double its Boeing 737 MAX fleet after announcing an order for seven 737-8s on day two of Dubai Airshow.
The airline currently operates an in-service fleet of 19 737s, according to Aviation Week Network’s Fleet Discovery Database, comprising -8s (3), -9s (5), -800s (8), as well as single -300, -500 and -700. The carrier also has one Bombardier CRJ200LR. With a growing fleet, SCAT aims to expand its service to European destinations.
"Today, SCAT Airlines is the most dynamically developing airline in Kazakhstan, and it has the largest aircraft fleet in the country," SCAT President Vladimir Denissov says. "The company will get an opportunity to expand its route network and offer passengers even more travel destinations."
SCAT was the first airline in Central Asia to fly the 737 MAX. Its order, announced at the Dubai Airshow, was previously unidentified on the Boeing Orders & Deliveries website.
