The 2025 edition of Aviation Week’s Commercial Aviation Fleet & MRO Forecast projects spending for interior equipment and furnishings (ATA Chapter 25) will be $31.4 billion over the next 10 years. Commercial widebody aircraft will generate 73% of the demand, or $23.1 billion over the period.

The active commercial widebody jet aircraft fleet is expected to increase from just more than 6,200 active aircraft in 2025 to at least 8,000 in 2034. This increase in the active widebody aircraft fleet will translate directly to an hike in MRO demand during the same period. Required upgrades and modifications to interior equipment and furnishings for commercial widebody aircraft is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 1.4%.

The forecast projects that the ATA Chapter 25 modifications market will be dominated by Boeing, capturing 52% of the market, with Airbus accounting for the other 48%.

Aircraft groups that will require the largest amount of the market are expected to be the 777-300ER followed by the A350-900, according to Aviation Week data.
