SINGAPORE—ST Engineering has signed a five-year contract with Indonesia’s Lion Air Group to provide engine MRO services for the group’s Boeing 737 MAX-family Leap 1B engines.

The contract covers all 36 Leap 1Bs operated by group carriers Lion Air, Batik Air, Batik Air Malaysia and Thai Lion Air in Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.

Lion Air is the launch customer for ST Engineering Leap 1B MRO services, after the Singapore-based provider was included in CFM International’s CFM Branded Service Agreement (CBSA) Leap MRO network in March 2023. Lion Air also engages ST Engineering for CFM56-5B/7B engines services.

As the region’s largest 737-family operator, Lion Air alone has 69 737-800s and 737-9s in service, with another 250 737-8/10s on order.

“Our latest partnership with Lion Air Group marks a significant milestone for us as we enhance our portfolio with the latest engine MRO solutions for airline operators transitioning to new-generation aircraft,” says Tay Eng Guan, ST Engineering senior vice president and general manager of engine services.
