LOTAMS, Where Trust Meets Almost 100 Years Of Expertise
LOTAMS has almost 100 years of tradition. Located in the centre of Europe in Warsaw, our MRO provides maintenance services to airlines from all over the world. We are a one-stop shop with our own workshops, paint shop, 4 hangars, and 1,700 people on board. We have 1,200,000 man-hours at our disposal. Our potential is constantly growing, and our capabilities are evolving because we strive for excellence!
Maximizing opportunities in customer care: from 5 to 10 maintenance slots
Over the past two years, LOTAMS has doubled the number of service slots from 5 to 10 - and it is still not enough, says Aleksandra Juda, LOTAMS CEO. The requests we receive exceed our maintenance capacity by 2-3 times. Meanwhile, we increased our production capacity from about 600,000 man-hours to 1,200,000 man-hours per year, effectively doubling it. Additionally, we perform checks and minor maintenance tasks on our pre-hangar apron. The appropriate distribution of work and the use of human potential allow us to provide extensive heavy maintenance for customers from all over the world.
Demand for available slots is very high. Despite adapting to the dynamically changing MRO market, LOTAMS is not able to accommodate all interested carriers. For example, to maximize our performance, we use engine shelters to replace the engines on the B787 so we do not have to occupy a slot, says Aleksandra Juda.
LOTAMS: comprehensive aircraft solutions
LOTAMS offers a full range of technical support at the level of base and line maintenance as well as aesthetics and workshop support! LOTAMS has at its disposal:
- Paint shop
- Wheels shop
- Brakes shop
- Battery shop
- Composite shop
- Sheet metal shop
- Mechanical shop
- Emergency equipment shop
- Gas cylinders shop
- Cabin interior aesthetics shop
- Electrical and avionics shop
- NDT shop
- Passenger seats shop
Having all these workshops in-house ensures that we are able to save as much as possible on aircraft turnaround time. Moreover, LOTAMS is an EASA Part 21J organization providing painting and minor design modification with DOA certification.
With our team able to perform several maintenance operations under one roof, our customer can come in for a 'C' inspection, change the interior, and leave with a new livery, all with EASA certification, lists Aleksandra Juda.
Thanks to the aforementioned capabilities, our DOA can create a unique approach to client servicing.
Our livery technical drawings are based on 3D aircraft models created in-house. That is why we believe that our drawings could help paint shops significantly reduce the template and masking application times, hence increasing the number of painted aircraft. Also, our 3D models allow us to create eye-catching livery renderings that can be used for marketing purposes by clients and improve their satisfaction. It raises the quality of aircraft painting services to a new, higher level, says Aleksandra Juda.
LOTAMS – heavy inspections for commercial aircraft
LOTAMS provides C and D checks for the most popular aircraft types, such as the Boeing B737 NG & MAX, Boeing B787 Dreamliner, and EMBRAER E1. We currently have a success rate of over 90% for completing aircraft within the contracted TAT. This success results from a number of changes we have implemented, including process improvements, increased hangar capacity, and significant investments in infrastructure - we have replaced tools, equipment, improved floors, ventilation, and lighting. These actions have positively impacted TAT realization, allowing us to react to all faults and changing work packs, which previously caused aircraft to stand much longer than they should. As a result, we can handle more aircraft in one year.
As LOTAMS's CEO, it fills me with immense satisfaction to look back at how we've elevated our service offerings in response to the unprecedented rise in demand for Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul services. Our concerted efforts have notably improved our operational timelines and capacity, although we continue to navigate a market where demand consistently surpasses supply. To address this, we've embarked on significant projects, such as the construction of a new facility in Rzeszow, aimed at substantially enhancing our maintenance capabilities, especially for wide-body aircraft, highlights Aleksandra Juda.
The post-pandemic era in aviation has brought forth distinct challenges, from increased traffic to the pressing need for qualified technical staff.
We're tackling these obstacles with targeted strategic investments and comprehensive training programs. Our aim is to not only increase LOTAMS's operational capacity but also to improve efficiency, ensuring that our company leads the way in the dynamic MRO sector, concludes Aleksandra Juda.
D-checks of B787 Dreamliner – coming soon in Rzeszów, Jasionka Airport
LOT Aircraft Maintenance Services is the only Part-145 organization in Poland performing heavy maintenance on Boeing B787 Dreamliners. As these aircraft age, they will require the heaviest type of overhaul - D. The Rzeszów base will be adapted to allow LOTAMS mechanics to perform maintenance on two Dreamliners and a narrow-body aircraft, such as a Boeing B737 MAX, at the same time.
The base in Rzeszów will be one of the most modern in this part of Europe. The hangar we are building will be equipped with comprehensive technical, office, administrative, and workshop facilities, assures Aleksandra Juda, CEO of LOTAMS, and adds: As a pioneer of this industry in Poland, we are determined to make every effort to ensure that the quality of our aviation services rises to ever higher levels year after year. We have the best specialists in Poland, the largest bases, and the most modern tools - all this guarantees our success.
