British engine maker Rolls-Royce has added a new offering to its SelectCare aftermarket service aimed at operators of Trent 700-powered Airbus A330 aircraft.

SelectCare Repair will cover check and repair shop visits, typically taking place between scheduled refurbishments when ingestion of foreign objects or component failures occur, for a dollar-per-engine-flying-hour fee.

Rolls-Royce says the offering, which has been added to its CareStore platform, has no cap on the number of qualifying shop visits or the cost of any individual shop visit, a factor it says will give customers a degree of cost certainty.

The OEM says the service is in addition to SelectCare Refurb, which is tailored for major scheduled engine shop visit events that typically occur every four to five years. Both packages will be available on a complimentary basis, allowing selection either on an individual basis or both together.

“At a time when the aviation landscape is constantly evolving, we believe SelectCare Repair and SelectCare Refurb will give our customers the agility to react to their engine maintenance demands and tailor their refurbishment regime to meet their individual needs,” says Dominic Horwood, services director for the Civil Aerospace division of Rolls-Royce.

Rolls-Royce first launched the SelectCare package back in January 2016 as a service between its long-standing TotalCare offering, which maximizes engine time on-wing and its Foundation Services that enables operators to manage their own engine maintenance without long-term service agreements or risk transfer.

Engine maintenance for the Trent 700 initially covered by the offering will account for more than 50% of the total MRO spend on the A330, according to Aviation Week’s Fleet & MRO Forecast.
