Willis Lease Finance Corp. (WLFC) has secured a five-year agreement with Pratt & Whitney covering engine storage and lease return services across several geared turbofan (GTF) and mature powerplant programs.
The agreement will see Willis support the RTX-owned engine manufacturer’s growing aftermarket storage requirements from its Willis Engine Repair Center (WERC) facilities in Coconut Creek, Florida, and Bridgend, Wales.
Engine types covered include the PW1100G-JM, PW1500G and PW1900G variants of Pratt’s GTF family, along with the PW4000 and International Aero Engines V2500.
Neither company announced the value of the contract or the number of engines expected to be handled over its five-year duration.
The agreement builds on a longstanding relationship between the two companies and follows Pratt quality reviews of WERC’s operations. Willis said the deal also recognizes the subsidiary’s technical capabilities and its maintenance and storage training activities.
WLFC plans to expand its engine storage capacity to support the additional work, although it did not specify the scale or location of the planned additions.
Austin Willis, CEO of WLFC, said the companies had spent the past year working to align the companies’ operational requirements.
“This agreement reflects the confidence Pratt & Whitney has placed in our team, facilities and technical capabilities,” Willis said. “We are pleased to expand our relationship further and help meet the shifting demands of the global aftermarket.”
The contract further expands WLFC’s presence beyond its core engine leasing activities as the company develops a wider portfolio of storage, maintenance, materials, asset management and lease-transition services.
Its inclusion of both new-generation GTFs and established V2500 and PW4000 platforms also gives Willis exposure to storage and return requirements across engines at different stages of their lifecycle.
