SINGAPORE—Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW), a joint venture between Airbus and ST Engineering, has secured a contract with Asia Pacific Aviation Leasing Group (APAL) for the conversion of one Airbus A330 passenger-to-freighter (P2F) aircraft.

The aircraft is scheduled for induction in the second quarter of 2026, with conversion work to be carried out at an unspecified EFW facility.

The deal marks APAL’s first freighter conversion program.

“EFW’s proven expertise in freighter conversion is key to modernizing our fleet and meeting the dynamic needs of the Chinese cargo market—a market we are prioritizing and to which we intend to commit additional resources,” APAL CEO Hong Wei Zhao said in a statement.

APAL’s order follows a similar contract EFW signed in February, with Hengqin Winglet Aircraft Technology.

Founded in 2016, the Hong Kong-based lessor owns a fleet comprising three Airbus A320s, one A321 and two A330-300s.

Aviation Week understands that the aircraft is registered 9M-XXV, a former AirAsia X A330-300. Aviation Week Fleet Discovery shows the 11.2-year-old aircraft has clocked 34,169 hr. over 6,093 cycles.
