I flew in several DC-9's and 737 early models back in the day. Very nice riding aircraft. I regret the older ones have to be "retired" but that's the right thing to do with this "metal fatigue" thing that became apparent in the 60's and early 70's. When I took flying lessons in the '70's my flight instructor was impressed as heck when I pointed out on the horizon , "There's a Lockheed Constellation!!" he looked and was duly impressed at my skills at aircraft I.D. skills.
