According to the head of Embraer’s Executive Aircraft division, a potential partnership between Embraer and Boeing would, if approved, benefit his division, which would then become Embraer’s largest.

For Embraer’s business jet segment, the partnership would mean a stronger supply chain, a larger capital stream, investment opportunities and more “synergies,” Michael Amalfitano, president and CEO of Embraer Executive Jets, said during the Feb. 6 NBAA Regional Forum in West Palm Beach, Florida. “It’s all upside.”

Shareholders were to vote Feb. 26 on whether to approve the deal, which is also subject to regulatory approvals.

Under the proposed partnership, Boeing would purchase 80% of Embraer’s commercial business and set up a separate joint venture to sell KC-390s. The two firms unveiled their plans in July 2018. The deal is expected to close by the end of 2019.
