Artemis space capsule descends below parachutes

An Orion capsule carrying NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch and the Canadian Space Agency’s Jeremy Hansen concluded its nine-day 1-hr. Artemis II flight test on April 10. After traveling nearly 700,000 mi. from the launchpad to splashdown, setting a new distance record for human spaceflight, Orion splashed down in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of San Diego, where recovery teams aboard the U.S. Navy’s USS John P. Murtha were standing by.
